As a Druid I’ve had little trouble finding groups. Most often I’m being aggravated at the Mages and Warlocks for dumping all of their AoE before I can even get enough Rage for a Roar, less commonly I’m being aggravated at the Mages and Warlocks for dumping all of their AoE before the tank can even get enough Rage for a Shout, and sometimes I get to happily mash buttons pretending I’m a kitty before the healer goes OOM trying to save the Mages and Warlocks who… you get the picture.
I’ve been invited to more dungeon groups this week alone than I have in the nearly two years I spent playing the game as a DPS Warrior before the introduction of Dungeon Finder. And no, that’s not an exaggeration. I distinctly remember that the one and only time I went to Sunken Temple on my Warrior was because I was hawking my wares as a Blacksmith in Trade chat, someone asked if I could make a blue weapon, and I said yes, but given the mats it’s probably better to just ransack ST. The would-be client agreed, got some higher level guildies to run us, and they took me along because the client insisted. It also happened to be my third dungeon group, the first being RFC where I was asked to tank but they didn’t seem to care that I hadn’t gotten Defensive Stance yet, and the second being a ZF run that fell apart after the Executioner because the healer kept pulling extra enemies during the event. After that… I was taken along as a sort of mascot to a Magtheridon’s Lair run in late TBC because I happened to have a shield and they desperately needed another off tank.
But now I’m just rambling and moving away from the point I was trying to make before telling kids to get off my lawn, which is “of course finding a group as a DPS is going to suck, so don’t be afraid to try another role if your class allows you to. Or, start your own group if your heart is set on DPS”.
It’s not about me not being invited to groups. It’s about there not being any groups.
If only the LFG channel was for organising groups. On my server it’s de facto general chat, being the only global channel in the game. People just use it to talk rubbish like they do in trade, except people LFG all over Azeroth are forced to read it if they want a chance of finding a group.
If LFG add-on existed(Well the original, not the neutered water-down or possibly knock-off? type that exists now) like 75% of the groups would just be DUNGEON FARM pre-60
There were 3 problems created by the LFG tool, that I am aware of…
The instant teleport removed players from the world for the sake of convenience
The ability to anonymously queue meant that there was no social interaction necessary to join a group. This encouraged anti-social behavior within the group.
The dungeon difficulty was nerfed to ensure that the dungeon could be completed successfully by any randomly formed group
Not sure how many times i have to repeat myself, there are no groups to be found.
Right now on the server (it’s currently 3:30pm in Sydney), there is 1 group in Razorfen Kraul, and zero in Gnomeregan. On the entire server. That’s the reality facing people on low pop servers right now. Any way to make it easier to find groups on low pop servers is welcome.
You still don’t know the difference between Dungeon Finder and LFG. What you are talking about is Dungeon Finder. I am not asking for that. I am asking for the LFG tool which allows you to manually create groups, the same as what in used in retail for forming M+ groups.
Both the LFG and the LFD did not go cross-realm until patch 3.3 in Wrath. The original LFG and LFD were both realm specific, which means they were the same server. People in this thread are cross various tools and feature with others. I have no idea what was and not in patch 1.12. What the OP is asking for is server specific LFG tool, which I know existed when I started playing regularly in TBC. LFG just list groups for people to join. It does not automate or port a person to a dungeon or raid. Everyone still has to walk or get lock ported to the dungeon and raid. That is all the original LFG did and nothing more.
From what I just got done reading it seems this discussion has taken place over the last couple of years and from the archives, it is also apparent that many over that period still could not discern between the LFG tool and the Dungeon Finder tool, which were both separate tools altogether.
Personally. I do not care myself, I understand what the OP is asking for here and I know what the OP is not asking for here. I just do not remember exactly when the server-specific LFG was put into the game. I just know the confused people in this thread are mixing apples and oranges and are not understanding what the OP is referring to here.
0/10 troll points op. Pick something that is not so easily demonstrably false. I’ve put together dungeon groups using /say instead of a channel it’s so busy right now.
Just open LFG channel. seen alot of people not know about this/ its /4 and can activate it in chat settings. its very easy i can find groups in 5 mins and im 59. lower levels be easier. and i normally add the groups i enjoy playing with and makes friends then it becomes easier
