I mean, not really. I see -way- more warriors, hunters and mages, than I do other rogues in groups and out in the world.
My problem? Streamers, man. Whatever this aoe mass pull strat they’re doing (I know raids were nerfed but 5 man aoe with mages i still really good) is making it impossible for melee dps to find a group. It’s nuts.
I can’t even make one.
The second I have a full group and there’s no mage, people start dropping lol. It’s so maddening. What the hell, dudes. Can’t a rogue just get some dungeons done?

it was like this in real vanilla too. rogues just don’t bring that much to a group. they can sap one enemy but it’s risky and you often see them get detected and pull a whole group as a result. better to just have a mage sheep something or a warlock seduce a humanoid mob. even hunters are better since there are many situations where they can kite a mob back into previously cleared areas, which is effectively just a permanent CC on that mob, not to mention frost trap lasts 20 seconds at max rank so a hunter could in theory CC two mobs this way although it’s usually not required since 5 man content isn’t that hard.
and in 5 mans nobody typically runs out of mana too much, but rogues get bottlenecked by their energy. it’s different in raids where boss fights last a lot longer, but a 5 man boss takes longer to kill with a rogue in the party compared to classes who can burn things down by mana dumping.
me personally? i have no problem inviting rogues or anyone really. even back in the day i used to invite boomkins. 5 man content can be cleared with basically any group comp. bring 2 paladins and 3 rogues, who cares lol. but this is an MMO, this is the internet, which means you will consistently run into people obsessed with what is the “best” and refuse to do things any other way.
Community will ruin this game.
Everything you said is pretty much false. Rogues are amazing.
Rogues do amazing damage and they have crowd control. There isn’t a class that provides more, only provides the same. Okay, Mages provide FREE FOOD, and Warlocks can summon lazy people and soulstone the healer, but that only helps cheap people, lazy people and bad people. If you’re in a good group, you don’t need crutches, you need damage, and a Rogue brings it.
If you want to be a doofus and just aoe everything like this is Wrath of the Lich King… well, why are you playing classic?
