Trying to figure out my Worgen characters' ages

Hi. So I’ve gotten heavily emotionally and mentally invested in the back stories of three Worgen characters I’ve been playing a lot lately (Thank you pandemic); This Druid, a Rogue, and a Warrior. For some reason I’ve been spending the last several days spinning my hamster wheels on how old they should be. I know, a strange thing to get hung up on, but it’s one of those attention to detail things.

This druid, who grew up around a reclusive group of Harvest Witches, conscientiously objected to the Gilnean Civil War, and stayed gainfully employed trying to help keep everyone fed, is around Graymane’s age, however old that is, I know he’s old enough to be Anduin’s Grandfather but as far as I can go.

My Rogue, on the other hand, grew up on the streets of Gilneas, and thus developed his own skill set necessary to survive that kind of life. He did a lot of underground work for Darius Crowley during the civil war, and a lot of side jobs with Loren the Fence. I want to put him around Crowley’s age, who I know has a grown daughter apparently in her…what? … twenties? If that’s the case, then Crowley and my Rogue would be… what? Around 45 maybe? That’s taking into account that the real me is coming up on 45 with a 20 year old daughter.

So I found this little post on Reddit that sort of breaks down Barney style the timeline of events, and I’d like to use it to math out who was born when and what was going on at certain milestones in their life:

Six years from Warcraft 1 to Warcraft 2. (The First War: 0-6)
Fourteen years from Warcraft 2 to Warcraft 3. (The Second War, Antebellum era: 6-20)
Five years from Warcraft 3 to World of Warcraft. (The Third War, Rise of the Lich King: 20-25)
One year from World of Warcraft to The Burning Crusade. (The Gathering Storm: 25-26)
One year from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King. (The Outlands Campaign, the Sunwell Incident: 26-27)
One year from Wrath of the Lich King to Cataclysm. (The War Against the Scourge: 27-28)
Two years from Cataclysm to Mists of Pandaria. (The Shattering, The Fourth War: 28-30)
One year from Mists of Pandaria to Warlords of Draenor. (The Pandaria Campaign, the Siege of Orgrimmar: 30-31)
One year from Warlords of Draenor to Legion. (The Draenor Expedition: 31-32)

That was posted four years ago, so of course it doesn’t take BFA or SL into account. What I’d like to know from someone with more lore knowledge than me is, how accurate is this? Year 0 would be the events of WC1, correct?

And that would put my Rogue as being in his late teens when the Gilneas wall came up?

I also read somewhere recently that the curse outbreak would have actually happened around the events of WC3, with the subsequent Forsaken invasion happening around the events of Cataclysm, which is seen in game. But is that pretty accurate? I know, lots of questions, I’m just trying to flesh these guys out a little more. My warrior is still a new work in progress, and I’ll flesh out his whole story when I get the first two down pat. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That timeline is as accurate as we can manage. It’s commonly accepted and you should use it when working out timelines. There’s a more detailed version on wowpedia that adds on most lore sources and events in order. Legion went 32-33 and BfA 33 to now. It hasn’t been confirmed yet if we’re still in that year or at 34, but somewhere in that ball park.

The Greymane Wall went up at least 15 years after the Dark Portal, year 0. Hard to say the exact year. If you’re going for being 45 now then you’d probably be around 26 ish when the wall went up. Roughly.

The curse info is right. The worgen began in Gilneas during the Third War when Arugal summoned them to fight the Scourge. The worgen continued haunting the land and gradually invading deeper into Gilneas and Silverpine over the years until the starting zone events of Cata.

Your numerical age doesn’t matter. You’re either young, mature, or old. You wear your age in your appearance and manner not a number sign on your chest.

I describe Drahliana as an adult, but her eyes look older somehow than the rest of her.
