Trying to decide between a few prebuilds for a new gaming pc

iBUYPOWER - Y40 Gaming Desktop PC - Intel Core i7 14700KF - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB - 32GB DDR5 RAM - 2TB NVMe for $1500

CyberPowerPC - Gamer Supreme Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB - 2TB SSD - $1600

CyberPowerPC - Gamer Supreme Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-14700KF - 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16GB - 2TB SSD - $2k

So for option 1 it seems like the best bang for the buck value. I mostly plan on gaming in 1440p mayyybe will dip into 4k but its not in my immediate cards.

Option 2 looks good but I figure intel > amd.

Or do i splurge and get the ti on the third option bc its a ti.

My current setup is running an 1060 3gb and an i7 1700 so either way this will be a massive improvement for me on performance.

Is #3 overkill for 1440p? If so i may just go option 1 and call it a day. I play wow, total war warhammer, and diablo mostly.

while the 4070ti super is a little better, the 7800X3D will be vastly superior for WoW and most games

for $100 more with the 7800X3D you get better performance and upgrade path.

makes sense. And you recommend that over the intel kf? I’ve never had amd before but have heard good things.

13th and 14th gen not only have inferior gaming performance to the 7800X3D in nearly all scenarios (and significantly inferior performance in games like WoW), they also suffer premature degradation issues due to flaws in design and default voltage settings.

Additionally, the intel socket is a dead platform. AM5 has a few years and generations of upgrade path left.

Especially in areas of the game where you have multiple people in the same place at the same time. Raids, World Events, City Hubs ect ect

That is literally the only option worth considering at the moment. If it were me I wouldn’t even consider the others you are listing and this is coming from an Intel fan.

Since you haven’t bought it yet I would even check if they have a 9800x3D option. It’s better in every way over the 7800x3D. Especially outside of Gaming.

In gaming you wouldn’t notice a difference much but outside of gaming you will 100% notice a difference between the 7800x3D and 9800x3D. The 9800x3D is even better than the 9700x by a noticeable difference outside of Gaming

Sweet! This will be a gaming only pc, I’ll watch YouTube or Twitch or a movie on the other monitor but that’s it

Thanks for the tip! I’ll probably go with the 7800x3d.

Before you make that call see if the same website has a 9800x3D option for around the same price. If not the 7800x3D is still an amazing CPU and a gaming Powerhouse.

With all of this said if you do make the choice on the 7800x3D make sure the first thing you do when you turn on your new computer is a bios update! This is absolutely crucial!

Earlier bios builds were burning CPUs

Not that I recommend prebuilts, especially from either of those brands, but the 7800X3D is the only choice for multiple reasons. For one, it’s worlds apart better than Intel for WoW, and it runs a lot cooler. Both iBuyproblems and CyberProblems are infamous for not having good cooling solutions, so having a cooler running CPU will hopefully avoid that problem entirely.

The 4070S is serviceable, and a good 1440p card. 12 gigs of VRAM is enough for pretty much everything under 4k, while the 7800X3D is the second best gaming CPU on the market (as of the release of the 9800X3D).

Even with my dated iCue h100i Capellix 240mm AIO on a VERY conservative fan curve, my CPU doesn’t crack 64 ºC, and I have higher than average ambient temps. Set a -20 PBO (going -25 or -30 is something you have to test your bin on), and you’ll run even cooler with no tangible penalty to performance.
