But the 25 yard range is absolutely crippling. Melee class abilities have more range.
You are asking to be absolutely pilled by one side of the evoker community who defend the range, and another side who hate it. I am not a fan of being a leashed caster, especially when all anyone wants is aug it seems, but to each their own. Good luck with the thread.
We need more range definetly
I agree. You want to make my damage abilities have reduced range. Fine. You reduce the range of my healing abilities and make my kit also involve skill-shot typed abilities as well. Now I’m irritated.
Its amazing how many people are too ignorant or stupid to acknowledge this. Any argument trying to justify the crap range is wrong by default due the simple existence of classes with standard range and equal or more strengths.
Evoker mobility is good yes. So is that of mages and hunters. Point moot.
Dev damage is solid yes. So is the damage of several other ragned classes. Point moot.
Pres utility is strong. So is that of other healers. Point moot.
There is no objective reason for the gimp range at all. Range is not and has never been adjusted for balance purposes. Have you ever seen a patch note that reads:
“The range of [class/spec] has been changed to x yards.”
Of course not, and for good reason. Range is not a character stat, its a foundational part of encounter design. The game’s code treats a dev evoker and a marksmanship hunter as “ranged dps” and will tag and target them with the same mechanics. Basic common sense will tell you why that won’t work. The entire game is built around a fixed range. This is 100% fact. Have fun laughing at the people pretending that it isn’t.
This patch note literally existed for evokers when pres was buffed to 30 yds.
If they just made Prescience 40 yard range I would be happy
Then you have Ret being able to use most of their DPS kit (builders AND spenders) at 20yd range despite being melee because of poor mobility. It’s honestly a bit weird that we have a melee DPS has almost as much range as one caster class. May not be optimal to play at mid range as Ret, but you can certainly do it.
