Trying Out Classes

I am hoping to try out a few classes once Classic launches to see if I enjoy them. And, that may evolve to slightly more than just a few classes if I have a hard time finding a good fit.

How many levels do you think it typically takes to figure out if a class is “right” for someone? And, how many hours played would it take to get those levels?

The one that I’m really anxious to try is Priest. I have never leveled a Priest, and in particular, I have no idea if I will enjoy or be good at healing. I imagine I’d at least need to get to a level where I could try healing in a dungeon. Would 20 be sufficient?

The others are mostly DPS classes, but I’m still curious about your thoughts before a good judgment could be made on whether a class is a good fit.

Thanks!

20 will take roughly 15 hours if im correct from a casual perspective.

My suggestion would be to obviously not be naughty and go somewhere you can test out max level 60 characters.

Just watch some YouTube videos?

Thanks for the input. I’ve read a fair amount and checked out some videos, as well. But, I suspect there’s no substitute for trying it out myself. The 15 hour estimate is very helpful, so thanks!

I got a nelf priest to 28, and stopped because I got bored. You might want to check which race you’d want to choose for the racials. Night elf priests have the Starfall ability which is a channeled arcane damage spell.

I won’t say it’s all that bad. it’s a little tough in the leveling even in Shadow spec(solo) or if you got group assistance.

I would agree level 20 is a good place.any classes get major changes at that level.

I agree with level 20 being a good spot to judge your class on whether or not you like it.

But, just go Priest imo. Done.

Even for those of us who like healing, its a boring class to level with until you at least get shadowform.
