I’m really struggling with beacon of virtue, every top holy pally and every guide screams that
In raid and in mythic plus you just absolutely must use beacon of virtue because it does a bajillion more healing…or something like that.
Every time I try to run the talent I run out of mana, and my healing is actually lower.
What am I doing wrong, are there any tips for transitioning from beacon of faith to virtue and not sucking?
I feel I do more healing with beacon of faith but I’m hitting a hard ceiling in m+ 7 where I’m struggling to keep people alive.
Unless im mistaken, you want to use Virtue before damage goes out for its damage reduction. It helps to use it with cooldowns like Wings and/or Divine Toll to maximize usage of its duration.
It reduces damage!? The tooltip doesn’t say that. Unless it’s a different talent idk about
The talent node above BoF/BoV i think says something like “players affected by beacon take 5% less damage”–its the node that just looks like BoL
This would also apply to Beacon of Virtue
I just checked it’s not damage reduction it’s transfers an additional 5% healing through beacons or something like that
Sorry my mistake, its on the right side of the tree, called Lights Protection
Ahh thank you,
Now I just need to figure out how to play with the “optimal” build because I’m struggling and feel I do even less healing with virtue then with faith.
I have been back and forth so far and cant decide, effectively I use BOL/BOF in raid as we are still considered to be tank healers even though I dont think our single target is anywhere near as powerful as it once was–and using BOV in dungeons.
Using BOF is just wonkier because it helps a lot to have either divine toll or holy prism (both preferably) up when you cast it to get a pretty big chunk of HP recovered after a big damage burst.
It is very mana heavy and you need to make sure you are casting your Blessing of winter (i think that’s the one) on yourself and using infusion of light proc to cast judgment to get some mana back.
Typically I would cast BoF–>Holy Prism–>(either Eternal flame or LoD depending on your needs because you will have a divine purpose proc, LoD sucks and I rarely use it in raid)–>Divine Toll–>Eternal Flame/LoD–>Holy Light to consume Divine Favor and get a nice big heal–>holy shocks–>judgment/crusader strike.
You can also get some decent results just beacon weaving and tossing your BoF to whoever needs more healing while still having BoL on a tank. If you take light of the martyr you can just beacon yourself to try and stay above that 70/80% threshold for increased holy shock healing.
I have felt pretty lost so far this xpac but its slowly coming togehter.
Might seem counterintuitive but the power of virtue lies in knowing when to use it. Using it off CD is going to lead to you going OOM.
It should really only be used when AoE damage is going out; it’s fine to not use it in between damage windows.
Virtue is extolled as the go-to for m+ simply because it lines up most favorably with damage windows from boss abilities. For example edna first boss of stonevault, you can have it up for every refracting beam that goes out. If you also time it well on the second refracting beam you can have it up for a little bit of the big aoe that follows (Good for preventing damage).
As far as running out of mana, you may be trying to force your holy light procs too much. The bigger heal is nice, but the cost of mana is significant. This is reduced by 50% after holy prism is used for a charge so try to keep most of your HL’s confined to this window. Cycle your blessing of summer as much as possible to keep the mana flowing too.
Follow your holy prism with light of dawn as well, as you will place dawnlights on your targets and this is quite a bit of healing for very little mana cost. The light of dawn itself is absolute trash, but we’re just using it as a medium to place as many dawnlights on your team as possible.
Remember to target yourself after you virtue for your first wog as it has 25% increased effectiveness when used on yourself and this well help splash more to your squad, stand in consecrate for similar healing results. Sacrifice and BoP have a damage reduction component to them that you can also throw out before heavy damage windows.
You probably knew most of this information, I’m just trying to cover a wide berth to see if you’re missing anything. Sending holy power into sotr is free as well, so if you find yourself slamming wogs or lod into almost nothing you should probably be using sotr instead.
