As a Zandalari Troll main i feel very offended.
On a serious note: Youre not going to prevent troll posting. Ever. There isnt a single company/community that managed that.

Sure, you can’t prevent it, but you can minimize it with good moderation. FFXIV’s doing a pretty decent job of it. Hell, WoW used to be notorious for good community moderation.
It’s doable. Saying otherwise is just displaying a defeatist attitude.

People troll because it works. There’s people here famous for troll posting, and they’re successful because any time they post, a few hundred posts reply to disagree with them, giving the trolls exactly what they want.
The trolls are Pavlov, and the ones replying are the dogs.

Also, not everyone agrees on the definition of “trolling”. A fair number of posters think that “anyone who disagrees with me is trolling and should be removed from the forums”.
Oh yes there was. Back when I moderated for Vivendi/Sierra/Dynamix. We didn’t take no crap.
