Troll origin

Many source says that trolls only existed after the well of eternity appeared so…
-Does that mean trolls were created by the well itself?
-If so does that mean races that lives near the well are weaker physically (e.g.,yaungol turned into tauren who looks more goofy, trolls turned itu smaller softer elfs) cause magic makes life easier??
-Also what are taurens origin story…they are known as the strongest flesh creatures (as yaungols) who just appeared out of nowhere living with trolls as the only other flesh race??

Werent Trolls already on Azeroth as one of the old god slave races?
Pandas have a similar past along with all the insectoid races.

Elves come from Trolls.
Most humanoid races are from Titan automatons that got cursed with flesh.

The Tauren and Centaurs are a creation of wild gods like cenarius… I think.
Kind of like the dryads.

Chronicles retconned trolls and tauren predating Titan arrivals.
Despite the fact that in MoP it was reinforced that trolls were there “since dawn of the world”
And that it was Yaungol who came from the Tauren but in Chronicles it was the other way around.

There were many more of upsetting retcons that imo made all this story cheaper.

The one cool thing about the trolls is the fact that they are supposedly around before everybody and they fought off the old god henchmen after they were locked up.

Is this still current lore or did this get retconned?
Otherwise who were the Old gods enslaving? Khobolds?

The Well essentially sped up the evolution of some life seeded by the Titans.

Old gods created their own species, the insectoids that were were easy to control, the faceless ones and C’Thraxxi as the big ones.

Besides being the oldest species their connection to nelves was also extremely confusing due to timeline which was used.

And the odd pacing of curse of flesh.
Chronicles were also retconned few times already.

For example Zandalar was also meant to be be free from titan influence, but it didn’t stop them to dump Titan facility in middle of Zandalar instead of exploring this ancient nation even more.

It’s really hard to keep a track on these retcons, writers have total disregard to stuff which was written earlier.

They didn’t create them, they enslaved Tol’vir. The Tol’vir were originally stone, like many Titan-forged creatures, but they succumbed to the curse of flesh.

The entities known as obsidian destroyers are actually enslaved stone tol’vir. The tol’vir were created to maintain titan lore repositories and titan machinery surrounding the titan cities of Ulduar and Uldum. Not long after the troll empires divided the insectoid kingdom of the aqir, the aqir that traveled north discovered and overthrew the tol’vir dwelling in a titan facility in Northrend. These aqir would eventually become the race we know as the nerubians today, having adapted the tol’vir’s architecture for their own purposes.

It’s actually more disgusting, they literally are the organic matter that seeped from the Old Gods during the Primordial Azeroth era.

Really? I could have sworn I read as far back as my WC3 manual that trolls settled on the shore of it and became Night Elves as a result i.e. that they were there before it appeared.

I stand corrected regarding Obsidian destroyer, as i must’ve remember old stuff that they were created as a “mockery of life”.

So wasn’t the Trolls like a Free Native Race of Azeroth before the Old Gods came and took over the world or was the trolls born after the Old Gods were defeated or something?

They were born after the time of the Black Empire’s fall. Basically the world under the Old Gods (and the Elemental Lords before them) was too volatile for organic life to take root, and it was the removal of those agencies coupled with the planet gushing a bunch of Spirit-charged arcane lifeblood all over the place that sparked the emergence of biological life on Azeroth.

Once the Old Gods and their minions were banished, killed and/or contained, trolls and tauren (along with the Wild Gods, Ancients, and presumably other ancient sapient races like the jalgar and quillboar) evolved as part of the general explosion of organic life that was instigated by vital energies bleeding from the wound left by Y’shaarj’s extraction that would become the Well of Eternity.

However, it’s not 100% certain if they evolved from purely organic life. The possibility exists that they may have originated similarly to the protodragons on Azeroth or the descendants of Grond on Draenor as elemental creatures who were made organic by exposure to so much concentrated Nature energy.

What trolls and tauren perceived as the arrival and then departure of the titans was probably the Keepers emerging to explore the planet after they’d finished imprisoning the captured Old Gods, then returning to seclusion as various events led to them become divided and remote, since the titans themselves never actually set foot on Azeroth, and the only direct physical interaction they engaged in on the surface was Aman’thul ripping Y’shaarj from the planet’s crust in the midst of the war against the Old Gods. As with Ymiron’s vrykul and the Keepers of UIduar or the mogu and Ra-den, organic mortal races (including flesh-Cursed races who forgot their purpose) seem to have often historically (albeit erroneously) equated the Keepers with being the titans themselves.

My understanding is that trolls evolved in a manner akin to evolution in the real world- adaptation and survival of the fittest.

However, the presence of the Well of Eternity and magic in general meant the process was faster, and adaptation evolved quicker, becoming trolls in a much faster rate than humans evolved on Earth.

trolls were first to rule this world
and they shall be the last

Makes me wonder if such case was the same for orcs or perhaps deformed from being ogres and such

I agree with the Troll evolution, entirely natural selection until the Well’s arcane in which not only sped their evolution but may have lead to some unnatural mutation, enhancing their keen intellect with minor defect of biological supremacy like Troll regeneration and other components

If Talanji and Bwonsamdi conquer Azeroth for the Trolls and their progeny, sending the cursed and Alien races into the abyss of space - or death … sounds good to me.

The Orcs have ruined multiple worlds in the AU and MU. They simply failed to ruin Azeroth - thus far.

The Draenei are worse, for similar reasons.

The Old God Cursed Titan Constructs made flesh known as Humans, Worgen, and Gnomes, among others, can follow their makers, and go away.

The Trolls and their Elven progeny should rule Azeroth. The Tauren can have areas to graze - I think they are native to Azeroth.

Illidan, Tyrande, and Liadrin did the heavy lifting in Legion, anyway. Troll-kin, the lot of them.

Born right after the Black Empire. Hmm ok.

“Right after” being relative, of course. Even with the accelerated rate of evolution on Azeroth we’re probably looking at thousands or even tens of thousands of years later.

Hard to say. We’re given no baseline reference and magic can be weird.

In my opinion the very first trolls where the zandalari and they evolved from the dinosaurs, given they’re multiple stone-like scales all over their skin.

This is facts.

Honestly it feels to me like some sort of dumb politically motivated retcon, “The American Indigenous and Black People Metaphors cannot predate the Roman-Norse-Hellenic Metaphor created races!”, or alternatively “We must undermine ‘All Land Is Troll Land/All Land Is Tauren Land’ claims because no discursive fun is allowed!”
