Transmog armor is one of the major rewards in the Shadowlands. Has anyone even looked at how it is on trolls? Especially male trolls. I joined Venthyr for a variety of reasons, and I was thrilled when I saw how cool the covenant armor looked during datamining. The extra pieces that were part of the boot models gave trolls actual shoes, similar to the bear feet from the Antorus druid class set.
Then, shortly before release, this was changed and now we’re back to troll feet overriding the covenant armor. I don’t see how anyone could have looked at a troll male in the Venthry Ebony Death Shroud Armor and decided, “yeah, that definitely looks better barefoot.”
So, there goes that reward, and I’m left with being limited still to transmog options that look good with bear feet. I like the bear feet, but it’s getting old.
I play a druid so that I can consolidate my progress to a single character and help my friends out with whatever they need, since druids can adjust to any role, and I don’t realistically have time to maintain more than one character anyway. Have done so since BC. My friends play Horde, and I’ve become very fond of the Horde. My only racial options are Tauren and Trolls. Then we got allied races, and I was very excited. Surely there would be some variety for druids, right? Nope. Just different Tauren and Trolls.
Armor and appearances are such a huge part of the reward system in WoW, and a lot of us find ourselves unable to enjoy using 99% of the options available because for some arbitrary reason, Trolls must always be barefoot. Why? Even the Troll in the Darkshore cinematic had shoes on. Shadowlands brought new character customization options. The variety of things given to humans, night elves, worgen, and blood elves was incredible, and yet Trolls can’t get a simple toggle to let shoes work?
I know this may seem like something really minor or petty to place such value on, but it’s an issue affecting the value of a majority of the rewards the game offers for 50% of the available race options for Horde Druids. You might just say, well why don’t you play a Tauren? I did. For 10 years. And they have their own transmog issues, but I think resolving those would be a good deal more trouble than a Troll shoes toggle in the barbershop. Or even a pretty elves race option?
I can’t say I’m particularly excited about either race option Horde has. There are two elf races on the Horde that would work great, and with the lore things that have happened to them over the last few years, I don’t see what is holding them back. Worried about too many druids? If you exclude bots, multiboxers, and farming alts, the class seems middle of the pack in popularity, maybe lower.
The final question is why? Why forcibly have trolls be barefoot, when there is even the Authentic Troll Shoes transmog option for people that want that? Thematic racial things, yadda yadda, but Orcs got a hunched option. Worgen got their human and Worgen forms separated. Troll feet seemed like such an obvious thing. Help me, Ion Hazzikostas, you’re my only hope.
