We have seen great new customizations coming our way with core races in Shadowlands. With trolls in particular, we get the acceptance that essentially all the troll tribes have finally rallied under the Horde banner with Troll customizations.
Do you think that we should be able to play as the savage/orcish body type, like the Aman’ishi Savages, which we have seen as part of practically every troll tribe since Vanilla?
Oh, to be a big boy troll!

While it’d be nice to have more options, I wouldn’t hold your breath for actual Forest Troll body types. They seem to be focusing on new skins without actually touching the core model. The biggest change that I’m aware of is giving Draenei longer tail options.
I would absolutely love to be able to make one of the OG Amani trolls, like the ones from WarCraft 2…
… But I think they’re gonna stick to skins and add-ons, for the moment, rather than full body customization. We can hope, though!

Sand trolls were confirmed at blizzcon. WoWHead’s datamining post showed a forest troll skin to better show warpaints but it wasn’t actually datamined. I don’t believe the blue skins are light enough to warrant ice trolls. Also note, for all troll races but zandalari and sand, there’s more than one tribe for that race. So maybe only one tribe of a race of trolls rallied under the Horde’s banner.
But yeah, the bigboi trolls would be welcome. Along with ice and forest trolls. I wanted forest trolls for forever.
Edit: This is from another thread and a post I made that explains how we could get said trolls and their cities (really long though sorry):
Okay. Let’s rewrite the troll post.
- Forest trolls:
At the moment, there is one forest troll tribe in the Horde. The Revantusk. We could have the Revantusk overthrow the Vilebranch tribe and get Jintha’Alor as a capital, and since that’d be quite a few forest trolls, and excuse for a playable race, be they a subrace or allied race. There’s also the Amani and several weaker tribes around them. We could see the Amani kill off those smaller tribes and get Zul’aman as a capital city, and the Amani lands surrouding it as a leveling zone, since there should be more than just the city. Some farmland or such around the city, along with places like Tor’watha in Eversong Woods. If they do a full cata shake over, this could be a cool starting zone.
- Ice trolls:
There are two ice troll tribes. The Drakkari and the Frostmane. The Frostmane live in Dun Morough and are nearly extinct from years of war against the dwarves and gnomes in the area. They could join up with the Horde, since I think they did in the second war (not sure, probably not), and/or out of desperation. I don’t see that happening though, because if a faction war ever broke out, they’d be wiped out almost immediatly. The second candidate is the Drakkari. The Drakkari were destroyed by the Scourge, Horde, Alliance, Ebon Blade, and Argent Dawn during Wrath of the Lich King. Their slew their loa and their population was massacred. They were to be fair, hostile to everyone, but they had at least some reasoning to be so. With the Scourge going rampant in the pre-patch, they could attack the Drakkari, and out of final desperation, they could join the Horde, and give us a Zul’drak city and playable ice trolls. If they do a full cata-shake over of all old zones, this could serve as a cool starting leveling zone aswell.
- Sand Trolls:
There’s only one sand troll tribe, the Farraki. They could have an extension of their capital city and some more settlements in Tanaris before they become playable. They’ve been datamined with new skins and were confirmed as playable and not just NPC skins because they were shown at BlizzCon. They could join the Horde since years of being by Horde races, and now the Zandalari and possibly other troll tribes joining, they could use that as their excuse to finally join. Starting zone as with others.
- Jungle Trolls:
The Horde already has these playable in the form of normal trolls. There are two jungle troll tribes in the Horde. Those two are the Darkspear and Shatterspear. We could use the Darkspear’s Echo Isles as a capital. We could use the Shatterspear taking advantage of the other Gurubashi tribes’ weakness as an excuse to use the Horde’s military to wipe them out via force or peacefully unify all of Stranglethorn under their control and recreate the Gurubashi empire and give us Zul’gurub as a capital, that way they’d finally be able to move out of Darkshore. Starting zone as with others.
- This is a side thing for fun I don’t see happening. There’s a possibilty of some island trolls becoming a part of the Horde, maybe on Tel’abim let’s say, who’d join up. A Tel’abim capital would be really cool. But island trolls, despite not being any particular troll race, are highly hostile and savage. So they should remain that way. Just with the exception of Tel’abim
Tel’abim could serve as a higher level zone or a max level zone.
As a final note, we’d want all these cities to not become ghost towns and have incentives to go to them. So, provided we do have those, these cities woul be all awesome to have. This incentive idea goes for Dazar’alor too. Fix up the city, as in make it all a rest zone, and give incentives to go there and other parts of the city, like the Zocalo.

At best, we can only hope the change in presentation to slider bars to select hair and face will extend to ACTUAL sliders in the future. You know… height and weight.

Maybe a future update will give Trolls a thickness option, alongside the requests for upright Worgen and Forsaken.
Yes yes bring big trolls bring all trolls i would be so happy trolls are the best race in this game Darkspear never die troll master race Zandalar forever Darkspear never die TROLL MASTER RACE! This game would be over 9 thousand times better if it had all the troll tribes TROLL MASTER RACE yes bring big trolls I need I will only ever play troll characters in this game because troll master race all my alts are zandalari and darkspear besides a one Worgen but I have no attachment to it on a spiritual level like I do with trolls I just need to see both sides of the story troll master race troll master race troll master race bring them trolls I only play as troll characters yesyesyes

Not happening. Though it would be good alongside Kul’tirans getting body options to normal and skinny.
They removed those sliders and changed them for tabs.
While it seems obvious to me that they are sand trolls, the intro for trolls is clashing with this idea.
“Renouncing the savagery of other troll tribes, you and your fellow Darkspear protect Azeroth with cunning ferocity.”
I mean, it is a minor thing but it bothers me. I am wondering about the Dwarf intro now.
That probably wasn’t taken into account. Thought I wish it was. It’s the same thing with Wildhammer and any other subrace. In my post I talked about how they could fix that but it’d be controversial and take tons of work

I would love this. To be honest more races could use this.
Maybe even look more like Kazra’jin.

I was just levelling in Ghostlands the other day and and was fighting some Amani… Reminded me how much I’ve always wanted to play the bulky, Forest Troll body style.
I would also accept Vol’jin’s model for Darkspear as an acceptable compromise

The first thing that comes to mind to me from a design/development perspective is how closely the savage troll model looks like the standard Orc model. If Blizzard devs decided to basically swap out head/hands/feet with Trolls and have an Orc torso I’d be absolutely pleased with that.

That would be great because then we can have straight back trolls like Zul’jin in heroes of the storm. Troll master races.
Body types and shapes are something Blizzard creates a whole new allied race for.
Because the main intro now is Exile’s reach and it’s horde counterpart they are including all these customizations as new races. Old intros don’t count anymore.
