Tripling the crest grind in TWW for M+

I actually just did some maths myself which might help clarify the issue some of us are having with the announced changes to m+ rewards in TWW.

This is assuming 15 slots to upgrade (using a 2h weapon in this scenario) with the current rates of 15 crests per upgrade level and 12 crests per timed dungeon.

At the moment, worst case scenario for myth track gear you do +8 dungeons and get a 1/4 myth track in every slot you need to do 54 dungeons to get enough crests to max everything out.

Best case scenario you are doing +10 or higher and getting Myth 2/4 track items from GV you need to do 38 dungeon runs to max out all the gear.

In TWW, the ABSOLUTE best case scenario is doing +10 you get Myth 1/6 track gear from the GV you need to do 94 dungeon runs to max out all the gear.

So if nothing else changes you need to do nearly triple the grind to max out your gear in the best case scenario if you are a sole m+ player.

That’s why I hated seeing people post saying “you can get 525 ilvl in a week, gearing is so ez” bc i knew it would bite us in the butt for TWW.

Not to mention it was never true in the first place or I would have done it on my alts.

I would suggest less grinding. You’ll love life more.

Well the thing is that 38 dungeons over a 12 or so week season isn’t much of a grind unless you want to do it all up front. But 94? That’s a big old grind no matter how you slice it.

Just do a handful in a week. No sense in rushing.

Roughly 47 hours of successful gameplay (roughly 30 min per dungeon, considering that you time them all, disregarding all time need to build groups up).

Also ignoring caps, so you are already limited on how many you can get every week until the cap is raised.

Going from needing to do 3 dungeons a week to cap ilvl to needing to do 8 a week no matter what kinda kills the whole “alt friendly” thing they had going for TWW. Which is what I had been looking forward too.

I understand. To me, I just plan to play for fun. My hardcore sweaty days are behind me.

Tripling the grind for crests but the expansion is supposed to last half as long.

Eh double that timer considering how long it takes to get into a group, get to the dungeon and do the first pull.

Even then the cap is 120 a week, which is 10 timed dungeons. So if its a 12 week season… at what point do you have time to play your alts?

I left out because it is not possible to quantify that.
That time alone is already huge.

And you have to HAVE the myth+ track gear.
If you are LUCKY to get every week 1 unique Myth track piece that you can wear.

Forget about S4 that you had bullions.

It is napkin math and very quantifiable.

I did say best case scenario

It is not quantifiable the time it takes for you to get a group.
It varies. You can’t quantify it beforehand, you may be able to count how much time it took AFTER the fact.

Take your napkin, write that in the back, and read it out loud until you understand.

Yep, looking like a pretty bad expansion for alts. It’s a weird direction to go in the alt friendly Warbands expansion. What good is shared rep and currency if I can’t finish gearing my alts before the season is over?

For Alts?

I’m not even talking for alts. I’m talking for mains.
Damn.

I mean I main healer/tank so I usually take about 15 minutes to get a pug group. I doubled it for DPS players, which is still probably pretty generous.

Less than 5 minutes for me as tank/healer.
But if you play your own key it takes 0 minutes to get your group, right.

Trying to start a DPS alt halfway through the season is going to be impossible. Those characters will be permanently stuck in delves.
