Like the one coming out in SL, are bad for the game
Racials that make you explode upon death are also bad for the game.
That sounds kinda funny though.
Only for pvp, useless in pve. Unless against an unavoidable damage. Otherwise the throughout if good trinkets outweighs it.
Most of the trinkets in systemlands are OP. Why? Already have legendaries, covenants, soul binds and conduits.
How would it be bad for pve? You will be able to eat a 1 shot mechanic or come back to life after making a mistake.
Soulstone has been a thing since launch.
WoW will be just fine.
In the game since Vanilla.
Soulstone, Ankh, even this bad boy
I think we will be okay.
Very situationally, in the right fight it could allow someone to ignore a mechanic that would typically force then to disengage for an extended period.
Off the top of my head I’m thinking of Wrathion, where you could completely ignore running to hide on the other side of the platform if you had such an ability. You’d have to sim it obviously, but that would add a fair bit of extra dps uptime as well as allowing for an extra potion reset.
That’s… not what the OP is talking about lol… There is a cheat death trinket. Not an engineer battle rez.
What about soulbinds that bring you back to life? That exists too in shadowlands.
Isn’t a soulstone like a cheat death? The concept has been in the game forever and I’ll bet the trinket shares a CD with other B-rezzes.
I take it you haven’t tried to strafe Orgrimmar with a legion of LF Draenei plummeting to their deaths? Would be funny.
Not even just mistakes. If there’s a meteor mechanic (ability hits location and damage is split among players) one person could eat it with the trinket reducing total healing needed and potentially increasing the raids dps since they may not have to move.
Although, an argument could be made that having such a trinket reduces the need to bring a specific class like a mage, hunter, rogue, paladin or whatever that can immune the damage and soak it that way.
Yeah if you pre plan it and put your SS on someone it can be a cheat death. Not sure who uses it like that anymore considering it’s a battle rez now.
I never said I agreed with the OP about this being bad for the game. It it completely fine. You sacrifice stats for this and most people don’t plan on dying. I don’t think it would proc battle rez though as it seems closer to Cauterize/Cheat Death
I did say this.
Soulstone eats a brez charge.
Question is, will this trinket eat one, too.
Seems to me it’s shaman Reincarnation but on an item. (so no)
Edit: Nah, more like the couple cheat death mechanics already in the game if it’s the trinket I’m looking at. Takes a lethal hit, prevents death, heals a bit, long CD.
It’s the kinda thing that would be maybe not the best if everyone had it baseline, but realistically it’s a trinket you’re gonna sacrifice throughput to use if you use it at all, so it’s probably not a big deal.
