Trinkets still charging gilded crests to upgrade to already achieved ilvls

I have two mythic track trinkets (flarendos pilot light and vexies pit whistle both myth 2/6 ilvl665). I should be able to upgrade my house of cards 4/6 hero and pacemaker 4/6 ilvl 658 to 6/6 for valorstones but its trying to charge me gilded crests as well. Please advise.

Flarendo’s Pilot Light is a range dps trinket and it isn’t on the paladin loot table so it doesn’t count

Well thats silly, I did the raid, killed the boss, got the loot from my guild. Still thank you for the information; I didnt realize that the system used that level of specificity.

I’ve seen this happen often enough this season that it’s probably time they added a warning when attempting to spend crests on an item that isn’t valid for any of your class’s specs. One of my friends who heals our regular key runs accidentally did this with leather boots earlier in the season because he just didn’t notice they weren’t mail (probably after getting them dropped as warbound).

I get it with armor/weapons you can wear but isnt for you (leather vs mail) but trinkets/rings/necks are just stat distribution and occasional actives. Just because the ring or trinket isnt good doesnt mean i cant use it. Technically i can activate flarendo’s pilot light with holy shock so its fully useable (1615 haste and 9927 int on use) even if its very suboptimal.

The idea there is that gear which isn’t intended for you isn’t allowed to be looted to you under normal circumstances. What this means is if the item isn’t a valid item for any of your specs as dictated by the game, you would never have been allowed to roll Need under the need-before-greed roll system. Your being allowed to loot it because no one else who it’s valid for needed or wanted it doesn’t bypass these facts unfortunately.

Fair enough and I understand that. Its just frustrating to see the trinket go to waste. Thanks for your help.
