Just have to say, since my return to WoW this month, I am absolutely LOVING the Trinkets in this expansion. It’s been awhile since I’ve really enjoyed their design to this degree. There’s just so many I want to use and mess around with on my different classes for Raids and Delves. Just been fooling with Flarendo’s Pilot Light and it’s been frying enemies in the Tier 11 Delves. And even for the passive designed ones, there’s still a fun flair to them, like flipping pages through the Arathi books, or the Seaformium Mine exploding for your stat increase. The mechanics n RP to em adds a lot for mem
So props to whoever at Blizzard has been in charge of those, because I feel like a kid at the toy store and just having a blast and wanting to grab em all. Please keep these type of ideas going forward!
I mean, yes, there are some great trinket ideas. Unfortunately, most classes have a very small number that actually perform well enough. I mean, yes, no one HAS to min/max, but some of the more imaginative trinkets make you feel stupid when you see how much of a DPS loss they are over the “bests”.
Season 1 had four top tier caster trinkets in dungeons that all simmed within a tenth of a percent of each other, which was awesome. Unfortunately, the raid had one of the most op trinkets the game has ever seen, meaning that great balance in m+ trinkets could only be applied to one slot.
I don’t have an issue with variety, but the sheer quantity of them is invading the loot pool for delves significantly. For that reason alone I kinda hate them at the moment.
Yeah, I won’t refute that balance, in general, can be all over at times in this game, sometimes they strike a decent balance other times not so much. And for the players doing the higher end content its gonna be less fun when the options are fewer and won’t wave away folks from that point of view.
As a dedicated casual player, I’m not as live or die by the min/max, but I won’t say “I sure dont care if it’s garbage!”, but the perspective and stance of just fun and flavor is where Im coming from.
Trinkets are heavily oversaturated and while there might be 30 of them there is only ever ~5 that any class, spec, or role is interested in having. TWW is not an exception to that rule. Trinkets are unimaginative and limited far more than the number of trinkets suggests.
Trinkets remind me of “bonus symbols” on slot machines. They exist mostly to break up a payline and prevent a win where the overabundance of trinkets exists to populate us with useless vaults.
Yeah, tale as old as time for higher end stuff, fun (casual type) n silly/side stuff is not gonna fly unless Blizz tunes the trinkets somewhat xD. Appreciate the kind n balanced response
