Hi,
I have a question about Bonsai’s Bargain when combined with talent Purgatory. Both prevent death, but i’m finding it difficult if it’s worth using both to prevent death twice. Sometimes only the trinket procs when “dieing” and sometimes both proc making the talent or trinket less effective.
As Blood, wouldn’t it be more effective to focus on trinkets that increase your secondary stats (Haste, Versatility) or provide some sort of shield. 1 may be effective, but 2 just seems like you’re dying more often than what should be comfortable with. Might be time to consider the issues lie with your healers, rather than being able to keep yourself up as often as you can. Beyond that, Icy-veins stated it well in regards to choosing Purgatory:
It is important to recognize that as your skill level goes up, the value of Purgatory falls significantly — experienced Blood Death Knights on well-practiced content will rarely need a cheat death, and often in such circumstances the benefits of Red Thrist could have been more effective in saving their lives.
I appreciate the comment, it titanforged and became a very good trinket to use even without the secondary stats. I’m finding it is essential in Mythic boss fights like grong which likes to one shot the tank often. I’m just trying to decide if using both is necessary, the alternative talents are bad and currently I have no alternative trinkets.
Basically i’m trying to figure out if there is a way to proc the trinket and not the talent or vice versa.
EU forum poster asked same question and someone answered that played around with this. They both proc at the same time. Stated it was best used alongside Bonestorm in m+
Grong never one shots the tank unless a taunt swap is missed.
Stick with Red Thirst. Purgatory is generally used if you’re dying to random burst damage. Red Thirst is generally better when you’re dying to predictable damage.

No its not true, I am able to make the trinket proc without the talent preventing death twice. It only happens half the time though, I think it depends on if the damage you take is greater than the healing bwonsamdi’s trinket does.
Half the time is great on paper. In practice, that doesn’t help a mythic progression tank if only half the time something will work as intended, while the other half results in a complete raid wipe. Further testing may be necessary but I’d sooner take a look at what trinkets/talents mythic level B DKs are rolling.
This is false. If you get three smashes in a row one of the tank will die or have to cheat death some how.
Tank 1 is tanking.
Grong smashes. Tank 1 eats the debuff.
Tank 2 taunts.
Grong smashes. Tank 2 eats the debuff.
Tank 1 taunts.
Tank 1’s smash debuff fades.
Grong smashes. Tank 1 eats the debuff, but survives because his debuff had already faded.
The debuff lasts 2 seconds and his smash has a 1.5 second cast time. As long as you don’t take back-to-back smashes you’ll live.

Exactly! Also DBM pretty much reminds you exactly when you need to taunt…
