just what the hell is bliz doing about this?
Does suck, probably suggest to play it at night or in the morning if it’s possible.
bots dont sleep.
Same thing on a ton of servers. You will see hunters or mages killing everything and censoring to sell the gold . Everyone always claims that “blizzard does bans in waves” but at this point the bots have done so much damage to the economy that even if they banned them all and then stayed on top of it at this point, it wouldn’t fix the damage that’s already been done. They like to wait until everything is permanently screwed up before they take action. And to all the people saying that the bots are “paying a sub”… no they aren’t. Most of the Chinese bots pay with tokens bought with gold that they farm on retail using scripts. The median household monthly income for an average Chinese person is around 230$ a month. You really think they are going to constantly pay 15 real dollars or equivalent thereof when they can make a script and farm gold to pay for a token and also sell gold in classic and make nothing but pure profit? Activision/Blizzard just doesn’t want to have to pay X number of employees to moderate every single person or not breaking TOS of the game.
Its nuts, ran through the barrens a few times last week and its just bot after bot after bot and dead mobs everywhere. Same thing in Duskwood.
Tokens cost $20 for a month of game time. Even if the Chinese are buying game time via tokens purchased with gold, someone had to buy the token to then sell to the Chinese.
My point is that the bot accounts aren’t spending any money to play the game. And they have used classic to make profit. It’s against Blizzards TOS, yet they refuse to do anything about the bot problem… Which probably also greatly contributions to the overpopulation of certain servers.
Sure, but someone else is spending the money for them. They aren’t playing for free; someone else is paying the bill.
More accurately, they refuse to do anything about the bot problem in a timely fashion. They do ban bots, but not frequently enough, and only in waves, which contributes to their prevalence.
The next ban wave is in 6 months, by the way.
And when the next ban wave goes out, they’ll remove layering because they’ve “closely observed the situation.” Then the bots make new accounts and suddenly layering is needed again.
It’s a shame.
I hope you are right. But I don’t see them handling this properly even when they do decide to hit the bots with a “ban wave”. I could go on about several better solutions but it’s not like it would make much of a difference in the outcome of their decision or the health of the game. If at all
There’s only one viable solution: instant permanent bans for anyone who bots. No more temporary suspensions; no more ban waves.
Detected? Gone. The excuse “the botters will figure out how they’re being detected” is nonsense. No matter how sophisticated the botting scripts get, they’ll NEVER be human, and they’re so, SO easy to spot.
Blizzard already detects botting just fine; they just wait months to do anything once detected, by which point it’s WAY too late.
