Trial of Style=Vote for worst mog

I’ve lost trials where I was the only one even wearing the themed gear. How does that happen?

Are people just trying to meta-vote to make themselves win?

Unfortunately, yes, I assume that people often vote for the worst one or a mediocre one because they know if all the votes concentrate on the best one, that best one will win first place.

Tastes are also very subjective, and each player has their own rules about how to treat mogs that look nice but are not strongly related to the assigned theme, or players that just slap on an official set without hand-picking each slot for a unique combination.

Sometimes people queue with friends/guildies. Some people don’t vote to try to make sure they have a better chance at winning. Some people just vote for the one they like the most, be it the most skimpy, ‘coolest’ in their eyes, or whatever.

I saw it once but I did it first day. I’m sure as time goes on the only people doing it will be people who want to game the system instead of play it.

Technically, not voting at all gives you the best chance of winning because if everyone is dishonest and votes for the worst one, that worst one will win—so you are better off not giving points to any other mog, good or bad.

You are also sometimes better off making sure your mog is not too good. I have seen some standout mogs that both match the theme and look great, but only place third or not at all because too many people didn’t want to shoo in the win.

Trial of Style is the ultimate PvP competition.

Oh, I know why people do that, but I still enjoy it, with pugs or friends. Even with pugs I’ve managed to win with non skimpy mogs haha

It’s the only sort of PvP I enjoy and will do!

Seemed pretty chill when I was in there last night, even got some nice whispers about some of my outfits.

Though there was one instance where I forgot to hit “Apply” for my Mog before the timer ran out and went up with the wrong theme. Shockingly, I won that round after all I did was /sit on stage facing away from the group in shame.

I figured they just pitied me being foolish lol

this basically i go for creativity and no one votes for me on purpose sometimes the mog that doesnt follow the theme gets first place LOL these ppl have no fashion sense .

The very first season on my velf i pulled off 98 wins in a row , 2nd season a lil under 60 wins , season 3 i dont remember but it was close to 20 .

The one that took me ages to win on was my space goat ppl be hating for no reason .

i HATE when ppl wear full sets ITS SO BORING to vote for . LIEK AT LEAST TRYYYY .

Sometimes it’s hard to win with skimpy mogs even if they fit the theme, because some players don’t are determined not to let sl*tmogs win. It really just depends on who you get.

The skimpiest mogs I have ever tried are the stylish dresses (which show some cleavage but at least cover up the legs) for the “catwalk” theme, because my plate wearers didn’t have anything that looked catwalk worthy to me.

Then mechagnomes would have an unfair advantage.
winning!

I had trouble on my Draenei mail wearer.

But then I got lucky with the “Black Magic” theme popping up, and we can now xmog the witch hats from Halloween (which are armor type agnostic).

Some people like to vote for full official sets, because they typically match. Other people won’t vote for them because it took less effort. It really depends on the judge.

If they are classy skimpy mogs, you have my vote, but if you’re just hiding all the armor, try harder. I enjoy making mogs of all kind, so when I see a skimpy mog I haven’t seen before AND it matches the theme and is good, it gets my vote!

I just did a handful and I think I’m just not into it. I have a lot of mogs overall, but hardly ever seem to fit these weird themes. I left a couple of them when I realized I didn’t have anything that fit the theme, it’s just not that important to me. Gives me some kind of weird anxiety I think with the timer and trying to find a mog that goes with the theme. Also had one I thought fit really well and stupidly forgot to hit apply, as soon as it started I was the first one on stage and I looked stupid, so I left, lol.

Now I remember why I never do it, I just don’t enjoy it, which is a bummer since some of the items you can get are neat. /shrug

Have you seen the abominations shown at fashion shows? Ofcourse people gonna vote for some monstrosity.

I mean, that honestly explains it all right here. Tastes are subjective. Ya sometimes win or lose due to somebody’s taste really. I wouldn’t worry much about it honestly.

I either don’t bother voting or vote for the first person the game default selects. I couldn’t care less about the themes or whatever.

Plate wearers don’t have very much to mog to match most of the themes. :sob:

You mean people vote for anything other than elves?

I only play with friends in voice chat while drinking and goofing around. Still managed a couple wins as a vulpera despite their attempts to sabotage.
