Trial of Style reward?

Event is live in EU now, and once again it looks like no new reward sets have been added.

Is it really so hard to just pick an old unused set, do some HD touch-ups, and throw your playerbase a tiny little bone here?

They could add a pet reward ā€œMurkmodeā€, a chic murloc that has incomprehensible but enthusiastic reactions to our outfits.

A new xmog reward for trial of style would have gotten me to log in again for the first time since before 8.2 on what’s left of my subscription.

But it sounds like I can safely miss the trial this time around and if I come back later I won’t have missed out on anything.

For some reason ā€œtier setsā€ cough… I have this strange feeling they fired alot of the Art Department to make room for
" meaningfull positions "

If this is true I’m gonna be sad. The Art department has been one of the few highlights of this entire expansion. They have been pretty much carrying BFA all their own.

This makes me sad.

The sets in BfA have been very lackluster, to me at least. I would have liked to be able to aquire a new old clunky set through the Trial of Style.

I already have everything I can get so, if there’s no new rewards, there’s no real point in participating.

:pensive:

I’d say the raiding/mythic gear has really been the only lackluster art thing in BFA. Everything else the Art team has done fantastic on so far in bfa.

I disagree.

I feel a vast majority of the sets have been drab and lifeless. But that’s just me.
Though I don’t see many folk running around wearing them either.

Well I generally find leveling sets to be pretty drab and lifeless regardless of expansion. It’s in the hard end-game content that I expect some real pizzazz with armor. The art time has utterly failed in that regard with this expansion. They have done fine everywhere else so I feel like it’s really hard for me to pick on the art time for BFA. The fact the armor is the only thing I hear people complain about means that overall the Art Team did a good job. I just can’t hold them to perfection.

I usually find something to like in the leveling and dungeon sets. There’s some good stuff in there.

This time around there’s less of them and somehow they’re worse. It’s weird.
And I agree with you regarding the high end sets too. They’re not really worth chasing this time 'round.

this this this

a lot of the zones look INCREDIBLE
i think they opted to put as much effort into those as possible which, while the zones look nice
nobody is going to care about the zones if their characters feel extremely lackluster and tired

(you can say the same about class depth and rotations and pruned buttons though even though raid encounters are better)

good examples being the heroic raid sets
the elite pvp armor
the gladiator’s pvp tabard

all look absolutely lifeless and there are SEVERAL leveling sets that more effort went into

the BoD ā€˜bone’ themed sets look great
very boring being shared theme for everyone though
uldir and EP’s mythic sets look absolutely PLAIN
they used to put more effort into honor token armor from random battlegrounds

it’s sad

I’d guess this was done many many months in advance. I just don’t think the current lead made any effort.

Just excuse after excuse.

It’s not their fault. They can’t control what goes in.
So yeah.

I was half expecting more variation in difficulty for what armor sets were rewarded, but they are stripped down mythic variations.

The questing KT greens looked better to a point but Ion says it’s subjective… maybe he just knows he’s cutting corners and doesn’t want to admit it.

Can’t fault the art department to be honest.

That’s a good point.

Also, if there’s great armour pieces I’ll wear them forever. I don’t imagine I’ll visit the current zones much at all when the next expansion drops.

So a little bit more effort put into the sets/armour would have been appreciated.
By me at least.

I think a bit more effort on the armour would have been appreciated by most people, even if it meant a little bit less effort in the zones. They knocked the zones so far outta the park, I feel like they probably could have afforded a bit of redirection to spruce up the sets.

Then again, I’m not the Art Department so I don’t know under what constraints they were working with that we as players don’t know about.

The only thing I can suggest is that the Tokens carry forward. And by and large, the ToS is a pretty fun event.

So go ahead and have a little fun, collect some Tokens… and you can save them, hopefully, for next year. When a cool set comes out, you won’t have to worry about ā€œgrindingā€ Tokens, you’ll have plenty and can just go buy the new stuff.

I, for one, agree with this statement fully!
:slightly_smiling_face:

I’m just looking forward to the free transmogging so I can take this starfish off my face.

( just ignore the fact that hiding the helmet is free anyway )

I’m not sure why people are still surprised by this, the new ensembles come maybe once a year and it’s been made pretty clear that player feedback about the event isn’t really taken into consideration.

It’s laughable, i haven’t been playing for the last 3 weeks or so, I log in every few days to see what the emissary is (still waiting on alliance weap cache).

Logged in today with the intent of actually spending a few hours playing, (trial of style of course), see that there is ZERO new rewards, and log back out.

The constant RNG ontop of RNG has killed this game for me, the lure of free things was enticing, shame blizzard didn’t actually deliver.
