Chests used to drop much better items. Similar to how locked chests always drop a green.
Unfortunately botters farmed the locations, and rogues farmed the chests inside dungeons. So Blizzard had to either remove the chests (which they did in wotlk) or remove the good loot.
Or made them much, much rarer. I’d have accepted that trade-off. Or perhaps you found treasure map pieces instead like Tanaris, and had to gather them up to loot the treasure.
That’d be great.
Better than bringing food to a fat ogre like an enabler.
Though Lard does give nice stuff in return.
Same for that broken dude in Blasted Lands.
Dude.
Lard isn’t even mobile.
He’s on the floor in the inn. Not able to get up.
Yeah he had his story about dropping his lunch and running away. Really?
Thanks. Now I feel worse about enabling.
I’m worried about his health.
I always liked the little treasures they added in mop. Really added to the leveling experience, and felt like there were undiscovered things in the world again. They ended up being a little too formulaic (especially where location is concerned), but the idea was there.
I dont think I’ve seen anything but hot garbage in an open world chest since 2004 when I pulled a Searing Blade out of the one in Redridge up near the orcs.
