Just tested this on my hunter to see which of you were right. The initial hit of viper doesnt break it but the second tick breaks the trap.
Viper sting does break freezing trap.
My brother in christ, you could literally look at any class in SOD and find examples for what you’re stating doesn’t exist. Mage? Blink/Displacement, Warrior? Warbringer/Meathook, Feral? Shift, Rogue? Step/Vanish, Shaman? Decoy Totem lol (still haven’t fixed this ability the most broken to ever be introduced in SOD) etc… That is before you account for the fact that trinket is a freedom in and of itself.
What a terrible change, legit gutted the feel of ranged hunter. As many stated already in this post, Hunter’s cannot just scatter trap their way to victory - they have no defensive capacity (relative to other classes), get folded as soon as someone closes the gap, can’t reliably trap anymore because you gave everyone human racial in wrath.
Can’t say I’m surprised tho…
The initial hit doesn’t do anything it just applies the dot.
Way to take a sledgehammer the problem, this change feels horrible and tonedeaf for anyone who still plays this class. Entrapment is the real problem for PVP, not frost trap, but its easier to delete an ability so thats what they did.
Also how the hell did we get these changes before getting respawn protection in BRM and removing the rez timer?
Because it’s a hunter nerf they just really hate this class.
Blizzard just doesnt care clearly a terrible change and they will use the you think you do approach to again nerf hunters
How many time has hunters been nerfed is SoD so far are we at 100 nerf now?
Lol obviously you’re not looking at the whole picture… Acting like all the other classes are the same like they were in Classic WoW. In SoD, Every other class has the ability to catch up and daze/stun you… GGz
Yes, being in the top 5 dps with both specs the entirety of SoD…they really do hate you.
Maybe you should have a chat with mages, or heck any of the casters.
I forgot about the waterboys…
AMEN BROTHER! I dont think the WoW devs actually think things through.
Basically I ate phase 1 nerfs with a smile this is just disheartening and i olayed classic hunters they are better in sod then classic like we deal actual damage they could have just made a different change
They’ve done this continually to Hunters. It started by completely changing explosive shot, then gutting non-cat or wind serpent pets, making kill command useless etc etc.
I agree hunter is better in SoD since the class can do damage compared to vanilla and classic but sadly it seems so many don’t like that.
Well GG Blizzard… I’ll come back once you make hunter class fun again. This ruined the entire feel of P4 range hunter… Mind you, all the other classes in SoD have extreme mobility… Hunters do not… Once the gap is closed its GG. We cant scatter shot our way to victory like in Classic WoW because now everyone can easily counter this.
How about we nerf Locks and Shamans first?
So you are waiting for microsoft to restructure blizzard it’s the only way this class will be good and fun.
Damn yall bad
It’s impressive how confident you are given that you’re wrong. FREEZING trap has always been broken by Viper Sting’s tick. FROST TRAP/ENTRAPMENT does not get impacted by viper sting.
The 8 second CD of Freezing Trap is basically irrelevant due to DR, it’s not as though the traps last any meaningful amount of time beyond the first 2. In a 1 on 1 situation, hunter PVP gameplay boils down to can I kill them before they get to me because once they get to me I most likely lose. Most classes have new utilities that allow them to immediately negate distance.
It’s interesting you complain as much as you do because Shamans always felt unkillable to me, especially following the DR adjustments in PvP. Now add in a baseline damage reduction button and it seems that the grounding/decoy/poison cleansing makes most of your complaints more of an issue of you being unable to roll your face across the keyboard and instantly delete a hunter.
Hunters got awful runes throughout SOD. None of the fun reimagining or neat buttons a lot of other classes got. Mostly just buttons that did what other buttons already did but better. The pets being crazy strong was too frustrating for anyone else playing the game. Apparently rogues/warriors are unwilling to have another melee class come close to them on the meters. Trap Launcher was really the only thing the class had going for it in pvp and pve.
Overall, it’s just impressive how quickly hunters are nerfed relative to other classes. I would venture to say that toward the end of P3 these forums were composed of ~30% posts about nerfing shamans… and somehow that never really manifested. 6 days into the AV grind, the one button that justified hunter existing in a pvp setting on alliance just got effectively disabled.
