This Death Knight character has the set of Warglaive of Azzinoth (main hand and off hand), they both are category under weapon: Sword. I know that they can be transmoged by Demon Hunters if you get them through Black Temple during the Burning Crusade Timewalking dungeon event.
My question, If I own the Legendary weapons, why can’t I transmog my other one handed swords to appear as them?
It was decided to keep the transmog locked to Demon Hunters only due to the method of obtaining the look.
The simple answer is because Blizzard said the ability to t-mog them was a DH thing only.
Blizz has stated that they are exclusively only for DH to mog.

I don’t really understand why they can’t just allow mogging the glaives as swords for everyone else and leave the unlock as is for DH to get the special warglaive appearance. But Blizzard loves their arbitrary transmog restrictions so it is what it is.

I always figured it was because warglaives have different animations than swords, so if they’re transmogged as swords, the animations would look wonky. Sure, Blizz could add warglaive animations to other classes, but as Valorhand so articulately stated, we are “thpethul.”
I would be fine, well my DH would be fine, with any class that can wield a 1H sword being able to transmog them if they earned them the same way, had the Warglaives of Azzinoth achieve then defeated Illidan during the TW event. If blizz wants to keep it “special” for DHs then alter the achieve title for other classes and have only DHs achieve be “I’ll Hold These for You Until You Get Out”, call everyone else’s something else.
Pretty dumb because I earned mine in BC with my rogue.
it’s seemed weird to allow other characters in game to wield these weapons (equipped). but not allow them to transmog them. Oh well. Thanks for the replies.
Because blizzard wants to make them a DH Only thing even though they were introduced in BC and should by no means just be a DH thing. Same with the Night elf glaives historically a weapon used by Nelves is considered a DH only wep.
I think they should make shadowmourne DK only, it’s only fair.
You can equip them, but not transmog them. If you don’t care about stats, you can do what I do.
It should’ve been available to other classes.
I’ve seen a lot of thunder fury so that’s another option for non dh.
i got mine on my rogue and was kinda bummed to find out that it became a dh exclusive tmog in legion. i ended making a dh this past timewalking event since i also got the achieve during that same event. while i do admit they look fantastic on dhs, they look equally fantastic on the class i got them on. i had great fun wielding them in korraks revenge and its such a shame that theyll basically be relegated to throwbacks or rolling a dh.
some side bits i notcied during this…revelation:
-warglaive of azzinoth changed classification from 1h sword to warglaive.
-tmog has the dh sheathing the warglaives inverted so handguards is faced out. the real mcoys still sheath the original way. which technically is right. how you supposed to pull them off your back with the handle against your back. i like the old sheath better.
-you dont have to use the same character to g et the achieve as you did with the warglaives. i got them on my rogue; i got the achieve on my druid.
