I’ll bet all the other MMORPG out there on the market right now are jealous of World of Warcraft transmog system and I’ll bet they would kill to have something similarly designed system in their game.
Maybe. But to kill? A bit too far.
Tbh this is kinda true cause transmog is honestly one of the main things i really enjoy about this game. Like as much as I enjoyed ff14, I found the glamor system kinda outdated. ESO is kinda good and has dyes but theres something about it that doesnt feel very accessible
Don’t the other big ones all have their own versions? After all, cosmetics are a good money maker for free to play games.
I wouldn’t even rate WoW’s as particularly great. The armor type restrictions feel out dated. So do level restrictions for that matter. No dye system. You mog the item and not the slot. It’s adequate. Plenty of room for improvement though.
FFXIV players definitely want their own glam catalogue and not have to keep physical pieces of gear. GW2 already has its own glam/transmog catalogue, with dyes and dye channels. I’d say WoW fashion suffers from not being able to dye anything.
In all of them though you have to spend some form of currency (glamour prisms, transmutation charges, gold) with the exception of glam plates in FFXIV, and even then those cost prisms to put items in your dresser.
Definitely room for improvement on all fronts.
Yes. But a lot of them charge store bought currency/tokens or some extra step like crystals that can be crafter, or easily bought. Not many just use a universal currency like gold.
One more thing that the other MMO transmog systems don’t have built in accountwide collection for your alternate toons also counts towards the transmog pieces.
I would argue Destiny 2’s is better. Uses a catalog system similar to WoW but has a pretty extensive dye system as well. Of course this is on whether or not you classify Destiny as an MMO lol.
The only thing holding back FF14 is the fact you have to store the physical item. Every other part is superior to WoW.
Nah. Most MMOs have a wardrobe system, like a separate outfit inventory screen for you appearance that doesn’t change every time you equip new gear. Also, many have armor dye.
WoW is pretty far behind on its tmog system.
Most of the other MMOs have better outfit customization. For example in SWTOR you can have multiple saved outfits that you can switch between at the click of a button, you can recolor everything (though color combinations are limited and expensive), and most armor options are usable by all classes.
The only thing WoW has that other MMOs don’t have is the collections system saving all appearances that you’ve ever obtained, outside of that one thing WoW’s transmog system is dated and overly restrictive.
Umm they do though?
SWTOR: has a costume system to save outfits.
FFXIV: has the glamour system for outfit design.
GW2: has something i cant remember what its called.
ESO: has tons of armor skins and costumes to use for cosmetics.
What mmo are you playing that doesnt have a costume/transmog system?
Ignoring monetization, SWTOR’s is better
Why would they be? Transmog in this game is laughably primitive compared to what’s found in most other MMOs. SWTOR’s wardrobe system has dyes, loadout slots, and doesn’t force you to update your outer appearance every time you get a new piece of gear.
every day I hope that squenix steals wows transmog system.
