Not about you.
Same. I quite enjoy the simple look of the backpacks, and they’re not locked behind recruiting friends. Is good.
They’ve already said it won’t happen. They don’t create their armors in a way that they could be dyed. The might if they developed that system going forward, but everything from this point back would never be able to be dyed. So get used to it.
This post says that the system is broken. But does not describe any part of breakage. Posts like this are probably why Blizzard doesn’t take its player base seriously
Not according to every response they have made as to why it could not be done. I know it seems that the developers should be able to do anything but the impression is that the game’s design, stretching as it does over so many years, is not suited for dyes.
I will quote a commenter on another post on this topic who says it better than I could:
“Dyes would be a great feature but unfortunately it would be an incredible investment of time and money for the artists to make it a reality. The textures in wow (for armor and weapons at least) would have to be completely redone and replaced. Current textures have their colors “baked in”. They can’t be changed dynamically. So all those textures would have to be replaced with colorless textures that can be assigned a color dynamically. That’s an incredible number of textures to redo and that’s not even touching the design, coding, and testing of the dye system itself.”
most of the gear has been ugly for eons, we have 900 shades of brown or colors for gear that look like a melted box of crayons
They did this with Mechagnomes as well, and I’m sure it mostly has to do with saving time in development. I don’t even bother looking for xmog on my hunter because of it. I just keep the heritage armor. Nothing else really works.
A hunter with one eye would have no depth perception…
The normal and heroic raid transmogs are available through the reach tokens and the catalyst. It’s only the mythic transmog that’s gated behind instance content.
I’ve used it to patch several missing transmog pieces, and to get several characters a full suit.
I want the ability to turn the sword around. I want to smack people with the dull side.
a whole expansion was centered around updating zones, granted they weren’t that old at the time. i don’t support the “it’s old, don’t waste time on it” view. it’s not like the quest design or raid or pvp teams would be assigned to tree model updates. heck the dmf roller coaster was just someone’s side project. no reason NOT to update older places.
you caught that too, lol. poor wording in the title.
Some of the match, but the secondary colors are completely out of whack.
Ah, perhaps my language was wrong.
What I should have said was “In my opinion, the Xmog system is flawed”
I wish the backpacks didn’t make my weapons disappear.
For every person who wants some crazy weapon, is a person that just wants a good basic one. The 2h mace and the 2h sword that have been on the trader are good examples.
Kind of self explanatory isn’t it? Work hard, get good, have better and fancier stuff to show off.
WoW wasn’t designed for those. They have to model and build a whole new item for each possible color, which would take a crazy amount of dev time.
Supposedly, the tech in this game is so bad they can’t support dyes.
Maybe they could get an AI to update it!
that aint broken bruh its just your bad opinion
still aint broken just another bad opinion
you aint too bright are you? lol
Armor dye only works when you’ve built the system to accommodate it, and the armor system in wow very clearly wasn’t built that way - otherwise we’d have a MUCH easier time matching colors across items.
I’m pretty sure each armor set is built from the ground up and recolored once done to 4-5 tints. If it was as simple as them selecting a brown tint, purple tint, geeen tint, etc. from a drop down we’d have seen them cash in on existing art assets more frequently by now (Pld t2 for example?).
I’d rather see a new expansion over the hundreds (if not thousands) of man hours that would go into overhauling the gear modeling software for dyes. They wouldn’t get a return on that investment.
I want mechanical wings. Something like the Kyrian, but total mechinized to match my transmog you cant see because it takes weeks for this to update.
