Does anybody else have an issue with xmogging old story into new story. Like what place does a Tauren or Troll have in a war of fel canons and machines. I feel disconnected from the world showing up with bows and spears to a literal gunfight and being on equal ground. Magic is mixed with technology in lore but not in any class mechanics. I know its always been in the story, but it’s never felt so out of place. Should every xmog be a tech based to keep with story continuity.
It’s a game based off of traditional tabletop rpg archetypes, sounds like you just have too much free time on your hands if this is causing you this much mental anguish.
I feel like the high-fantasy boarding on sci-fi settings they find themselves in at times do alienate some characters.
Especially tauren who are probably the most traditional civilization. Orcs have at least experienced that sort of thing between The Legion and the Draenei.
Currently my whole Horde roster feels sort of alienate by the plot. Undermine helped with that, but The Horde neede a bigger spotlight.
The game (and life) must be in a great place if this is what’s troubling you. Enjoy it!
WoW had always had its own fantasy and it was never supposed to be like, for example, a LOTR type fantasy.
Even back in the 90s with WC2 the controllable units had explosives, helicopters, canons and guns.
And what makes a bow and arrow equal to a gun is magic, plain and simple.
My hunter bows get off 10 shots per second LOL
I don’t know if that’s humanly possible lol… So evidently bows don’t need to keep up with modern technology to be just as effective
We have mogs that look like jammies, a ton of caster girl outfits and some bug-themed mogs. There is no way you are going to get Blizzard to force people to use ‘tech’ based on the raid or season theme.
Guys
I want the original 4 KISS members mogs.
IDGAS where it fits in. I want to be an Ace Frehley druid. with Gene Simmons Face paint in bear form and a Paul Stanly star in travel form. Peter Criss is too intricate. I’d save that for formal events.
You’ll break your delicate ankles trying to wear those shoes. Think this through.
this is true.
fine fine.
just the makeup mogs.
That’s certainly doable Bliz.
C’mon
Also I recognize your delicate ankle comment and agree. I do have dainty ankles.
I read the title of this completely wrong and thought someone got banned for their transmog for a moment. Was wondering what could have possibly been that bad…
Now I am imagining their druid’s forms in those platforms.
So the Aztecs when the Conquistador’s landed on their shores? Or when the British colonized America and the subsequent genocidal atrocities? Bows and Spears are what they have and it is better than nothing.
A gun runs out of ammo, bows do not
Yeah honestly, I never felt it made sense to have guns and swords be so common in the same world. In Dragon Age, even a repeating crossbow is considered one of a kind. In WoW, we have futuristic sonic pistols and people still run around with swords. I personally would’ve opened up guns to more classes, but that ship has sailed lol.
Believe it or not, Tauren were the Horde’s best engineers before Goblins joined the Horde.
They’d like their world to not be destroyed?
Bwuh?
looks at Goblin totems and guns shooting Arcane
looks at Nerubians casting web bolts and slashing with claws, while casting Void spells
I think we’re good.
They’re still proud they figured out “wheel.”
This topic really depends on the mileage of the person looking at it. If you read or watch a lot of fantasy, comics, anime, manga, or play other games that mix the two there are ideas on how this works. Typically it is about people that have moved beyond their physical limits and use imbued weapons. So you have swordmens that can deflect or split bullets in half, deflect or evade laser fire, or just tank them like a boss. Combine that with the elements, spirits, faith or just good old fashion crazy and things happen. For the people that are not able to surpass their limits technology is there for them.
This is how I see it and it works for me.
How many arrows does your quiver hold?
It’s a magic spear.
The power of the spirits makes up for the lack of technological advancement.
