Transmog Staffs into 2H Melee Weapons

Warriors can transmog between staves, polearms, and any other 2h weapon. I’ve used staff xmogs on my warrior for years now. DKs were not given the same proficiency with staves for some reason.

It’s not listed on equippable items. I’m upset I can equip axes and swords yet I cannot get them as drops -.-

Why would you want to use a stick when you can carve, stab, sever, and bludgeon?

Not a true DK.

Pretty sure when you smash someone over the head with a staff it’s still bludgeoning.

Also, fairly certain you could carve many things including runes into… that stuff they use to make alot of staves out of. Oh, I dunno. What’s it called? Oh right… wood.

DK’s don’t use staves because Blizz didn’t check a box that said they could. There’s no real deeper meaning.

It’s also embarassing. Try using a real weapon instead of a long shaft.

Why are you afraid of long shafts?

There are a few weapons labeled ‘Staff’ that are actually scythes, which also have blades. My guess is that this is the source of OP’s frustration.

TBH they should split scythes into their own weapon type, give every class that can use staves or polearms access to it.

If nothing else, just do it so they can be programmed to never use the “poke” animation, it looks so bad with a scythe.

Ok Emperor Palpatine.

That’s true. I can use some scythes on my warlock (but not my DK) because they’re categorized as staves and others on my DK (but not my warlock) because they’re categorized as a polearms. Scythes make sense for both classes imo.

This!

He is right! Scythes are not Polearms!

Technically DKs should only be using Rune Weapons.

DKs are a STRENGTH class.

Staves, historically, are only for INTELLECT and AGILITY classes.

That’s the simple reason.

You can use a Polearm, that’s your staff right there. They are both sticks lol.

Except Warriors are a strength class and they can equip every weapon type except for warglaives and wands. Equipable weapons are all about fantasy, not stats, and some of those restrictions have become outdated over the years (in this case because, as mentioned above, some staves are actually scythes).

Warriors using every weapon is definitely a leftover from Vanilla- they pretty much use all the same weapons as any other STR user.

Axes, maces, swords pretty much.

I can’t recall the last time a warrior seriously used a staff or dagger, lol. Except when itemization was all over the place, again, back in Vanilla.

Even fist weapons for warriors are rare.

Sure, in lore. But in game mechanics it doesn’t work that way. Gnomes shouldn’t be able to easily take down a Tauren in lore but in game they certainly can.

Back when the game started, warriors used agility for crit chance and armor, iirc.

I assumed he was joking?

I don’t think any warriors ever actually used them, the way I remember it from the Vanilla days is that warriors could equip everything because being a weapons master was part of their class fantasy.

There was a time during SoD Phase 1, where a warrior’s pre-BiS weapon for lvl 25, was a green staff with high weapon damage and a slow speed lol.

I think they also rolled on daggers from BFD too, due to procs or something like that.

It was something lol.
