Transmog restriction changes?
No plans on changing transmog restrictions, clothes can still only wear cloth, even if they can collect plate appearances. That is, if plate drops it will get added to the collection, but cloth wearers will not be able to transmog to plate.

From my understanding all classes will be able to use any armor type for transmog even if they can’t equip said item say you have a mage but want it to have the plate battle mage look .
Your actual gear will still be cloth but you can use plate items in your transmog tab to give it the plate look .
Basically, your clothie cannot wear plate. But your clothie going into Naxx can send all the plate drops that toon gets into the war band bank (if I understand the flow properly) and your plate wearer can pick it up and equip it.
At least that’s my understanding coming out of today’s presentation.
Acquisition is being changed to be universal (ie Mages can collect all armor types, Warriors can collect all armor types) but the rules for transmogging to items remain in place (ie Warriors will still only access Warrior, Plate and Cosmetic gear)
Uh, for collectors not to have to run multiple different alts through raids and dungeons over and over to collect their appearances? What’s not to like?
It just means you can run anything as anyone and no longer worry about getting screwed by having the wrong item drop on the wrong character, such as Tusks of Mannoroth on a non-Plate character. You’re never going to be stuck doing Blackwing Lair on your Paladin to get those T2 pants and getting taunted by them dropping every week for your Shaman. Things like that.
Because I can now go into item restoration on my DK and yank out the entire Mythic Hunter set I got from Nighthold and I don’t have to go back into Nighthold on my hunter now.
