Hey guys, the transmog cost is kinda nuts. Its around 800g per transmog, and someone who changes transmogs multiple times a day and farms mogs all day I feel like im getting punished, I run old raids for transmogs so it used to be self sufficient but you cut the cost of the old gear from raid vendor price.
Solution #1: Cut the cost of transmog significantly
Solution #2: Create an item that can be purchased for a upfront cost that will reduce the price of transmog, a lifetime voucher of sorts
Solution #3: Similar to option 2, a Mount Armor that can be equipped into the unused slot and allow the Yak/bear etc to provide discounted rates for transmog.
Feel free to add input and more solutions below guys, good job dev team on keeping up and aware on everything. This expansion has been great.

Yeah it’s a gold sink, that’s the point

The 2 mil spider is a gold sink, transmog is a feature.

Very few people buying the spider mount, not an effective gold sink
Many more people doing transmog, transmog is a feature, the cost of transmog is a gold sink
You can save sets and not apply them so no gold is spent. Wait for trial of style then go through all your saves for free.
If you must apply for seeing what they look like then use heirloom gear as each item will always cost 1g per application.

I’m not fully disagreeing with you, I totally get that the market needs something to deflate the cap. I just don’t think its it, especially without sufficient gold farms. Not everyone is sitting on mils

I also wish that transmog wasn’t based on the cost of the item, it means that plate users kind of get a harsher penalty because plate items tend to have a higher gold value.

I do play strictly plate, maybe thats why im noticing it more… hmm
I just don’t know what else they’d do that a majority of people engage with if it’s not transmog. Repair costs are another one. What else is there that they could charge for without giving away valuable resources in exchange?
Queing for dungeons. Why not? Using the LFG should charge a tax. Or more AH comission/tax.

I personally feel like armor repairs are a sufficient goldsink, but I’m biased because I’d also like transmog to be cheaper. Currently I feel like I can’t really play around with a bunch of looks because it’d just drain my gold.

There would be backlash like you’ve never seen backlash before
Maybe, but probably not enough people consistently using the AH enough for it to matter much.
Transmog is the perfect method for a gold sink because a majority of people use it pretty frequently, and you get something of value in exchange, but it’s not a resource that goes into the game.
If there were no gold sinks in the game, and someone asked me what the best way to introduce one would be, it’s transmog costs. Entirely optional, but you still get value out of it.
Its optional, but encouraged. You can buy costumes from blizzard, and then you’re taxed in game every time you want to use it. Theres players who strictly play for transmog.
When I use the AH or /trade I keep an eye on gold, is it worth it? Should I buy that? But transmog holds no barrier in my mind, you do it and that’s it… gold is not an issue and doesn’t exist when I transmog cause its going to happen no matter what. That’s cost 700g??? Oh well… I look good and that’s all that matters.
Also my suggestion of the mount armor could have a hefty upfront cost of 100-200k. Or we can atleast normalize transmog, even out the cost. Plate shouldnt pay more than double cloth on a cosmetic change.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them remove the cost, my alts don’t have much gold on em lol

I feel like at a certain point, it’s a you problem, no?
You can already set it up so your transmog changes based on spec automatically without charge.
It’s always been intended as a minor gold sink ala Repairs.
I think if you’re feeling the need to fully switch transmogs multiple times a day, you’re outside of the norm.
I do think that transmog is starting to get noticeably pricey.
I don’t farm for gold consistently, but I do save it. My current gameplay makes it so that I can afford any mogging or repairs but what remains after that isn’t all that great.
Repair and tmog are both based on the vendor value. Which means you’re getting more gold by vendoring stuff because all items are worth more, including the ones you sell without equipping.
