Transmog and Mounts Need a Rework

Hello Guys,

Let’s talk about the current state of transmog and mount farming in old raids and dungeons. The system is seriously outdated.

It takes a ridiculous amount of time just to collect appearance pieces for transmog — and bosses drop tons of useless junk like necks, rings, trinkets, etc. The whole process is frustrating, exhausting, and, most importantly, it drives away new players.

After 20 years, we have an enormous amount of class sets, weapons, cosmetic items, and mounts — and yet, the drop system hasn’t evolved.

And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous 0.001% drop chance for raid mounts .

Why not use the same system you already have for holiday events — one chance per day per account, with increasing drop chances each day?

Why can’t we have something like that for raid mounts — one shot per week per account, with stacking drop chances? That would actually motivate players to keep trying instead of just giving up.

The transmog situation is just insane right now. For example — I’ve been farming the flower crown from the second boss in Mists of Tirna Scithe, and it simply won’t drop.

It’s just a cosmetic crown, yet it has an absurdly low drop rate. I’d love to personally thank the “brilliant” game designer who thought that was a good idea. :woman_facepalming:

I’m suggesting a new Legacy Mode for old raids:

  • Only transmog-relevant gear and mounts drop
  • Drop chances increase over time
  • Buff to movement speed for faster clears

This kind of change would make farming more rewarding and less punishing.

These artificial time sinks and ultra-low drop rates don’t help retain players — they just push them away.

Please, make the game more fun and welcoming — for both veterans and those who are just setting foot in Azeroth. :white_heart:

Hello everyone!

I’m agree. System could be updated. No accessories in drop, some new skips to last bosses as it was done for Garrosh in Siege of Orgrimmar. Protection from bad luck - increase a chance with every kill at least for one character.

it took me 3 years to get the zhardoom staff to drop from illidan which is a requirement for the red antoris felhound. thats absurd. they really need to do something about legacy drops.

I agree 1000%. Nothing more upsetting than trying to farm a dungeon that is literally old enough to drink. For a mog or mount then get 10 of the same ring.

If you’re going to spam me with outdated gear then at least make it war bound so I can use them for alts.

The current story is absolute garbage, most of the players are Elitist I don’t get along with them. Just let me get the look I want without having weekly lockouts. There are ZERO reasons why I can only run 1 Molten Core a week per character.

Ok so I’m a huge collector like yourself but have a few pieces of constructive suggestion, as I feel like this is coming from a place of frustration over a single item you want not dropping.

  1. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with the current system. Mind you that once upon a time, you only got the appearances for loot that dropped that your character could actually equip. So you had to run the same raid multiple times a week if you wanted the appearances of 2 (or more) different class sets. I think comparatively now it’s pretty generous in that you simply need to do a mog run to get any appearances

  2. I think you’re forgetting that Transmog runs still have a secondary purpose for gold making. If all irrelevant-level trinkets, rings, necks, and relics all just defaulted to being sellable junk, that’d be handy. Talk to jeeves or a vendor and it just auto sells

  3. It took me over 50 runs of Ulduar across 10 years to get Mimiron’s head. And as insane as it sounds to defend that, the mount still to this day is quite rare. I really like that. It’s not gated by time like the Mage Tower appearances or Challenge Mode sets, simply gated by luck and dedication. So to your comment about an ever-increasing drop rate over time? Statistically, you luck is already doing that for you. A 1% drop rate run 100 times statistically should guarantee you get the item you want. To half-quote Syndrome from the Incredibles, if everyone’s able to get this stuff it loses quite literally its only purpose- which is of being a scarcely seen and very cool show off item, little more.

  4. I am very anti-time sink and time milking and was a very vocal critic during BfA and Shadowlands when it was at its worst, but I think these frustrations are already a non-issue. You can multiply your drop chances for anything you want by the amount of characters you’re willing to run it on per week. No joke, just dust off an old alt you haven’t played in a while, whip out the one button assistant, and blaze through the old content. You can knock out 5+ runs in an hour in certain cases and give yourself the best possible odds of finding what you’re seeking

The game is already leaning heavily into design that better respects player time which I love, but I think it’s far more important for elements of gameplay than cosmetics. IMO

In 2025, talking about rarity is simply ridiculous.

Mounts from Pandaria Remix welcome you :grimacing:

What we need is Cardstack RNG for legacy content drops. Whenever you get a drop, that option is removed from the stack so you can’t get it again.

There’d have to be multiple copies of the more common drops, but that won’t matter because the deck is finite and every time you run it the deck physically shrinks so you’re closer to whatever it is you’re farming.

Well I mean if Blizzard ever chooses to do it, you’ll never hear me oppose it. But until that happens (in a game mode mind you where they searched for virtually anything they could to use as one of thousands of bronze rewards) I don’t think that means the flood gates should just be opened

Rarity and exclusivity are literally the only way this game can convey true prestige when gold is buyable and your irl job/income status is functionally worthless. There are little other means of expression besides titles, mounts, fancy armour (CM sets, elite sets especially) and weapons.

They brought back the old Naxx sets a year or two ago (if we’re not counting the BMAH) and their means of acquisition is so comically obnoxious and grindy that I love it because it meets both parties in the middle. Technically anyone can get those sets now, but very few are willing to make the effort to do so. Frankly I wish this was the ethos for most prestige mounts/armour sets tbh. Time gated exclusivity is dumb

This game could be such a great “collect all the things” game that people spend a lot more time playing and you know, collecting all the things.

But Blizzard keeps getting in their own way and doing the complete opposite of that. I can understand wanting things to be hard to get when it’s relevant, but once a whole expansion is over, who cares anymore? And why have so much FOMO stuff getting in the way of this too?

After a certain point you just have to give up on any fun you had in this game “collecting all the things” because you just have to accept that you will never get them. And that’s a lot of time people could have been spending running old raids and stuff, and doing old content, but Blizzard has decided to remove it or make it impossible to do solo for some reason.

I play this game so much less now that I have given up on trying to collect things. I’d love to play it more and collect all the things if Blizzard had any interest in making it that kind of game, especially for old content specifically.

I do… I do

I tried farming Blade of Hanna. A normal looking Katana from MC. Drops from a random enemy with a insanely low drop rate. After a month of farming it on 4-5 alts a week I gave up. I’ll see it in the AH sometimes listed over a million gold. The only reason why I want it is for my blood elf named Sephiroth. I haven’t even played the character in so long because I can’t get the look right.

So you insult the developers and then ask for changes? Really?

Are you that delicate flower with a vulnerable psyche who sees insults everywhere and throws reports in the game?

shakes fist at Xavius Still have not gotten the First Satyr’s Spaulders. And I did heroic raids with my old guild then in Legion. Been farming after that since it became legacy.

I got the weapon enchant, got the nightmare whelp. No spaulders. It’s a TRANSMOG Blizz! How is it harder for this to drop than some mounts?

Well you included the magic phrase so they’ll change it for you now

I would also love to be able to skip certain fights. That one fight that has multiple platforms that you need to use those wings to fly back and forth. I’ve given up on ever going past that fight. Its Freya or whatever.

I know how to attract Blizzard’s attention :innocent:

That stupid flower crown has been the bane of my existence. Over 2k runs, and it still has not dropped… meanwhile, I’m only missing like five raid mounts pre-TWW, why is a simple transmog so rare?

I was trying to get these pink boots in Mara. I’m not aware of any other pink boots that exist in the game.

It took me so many attempts to get them (they’re BoE obviously) that I collected the entire Ghostwalker set out of Mara lol, all BoE items. BoE transmog is kinda like a sick joke in this game.
