Over the weekend I transfered 8 characters from Windseeker to Westfall. To be told 3 days later both Windseeker and Westfall are being shut down with the same transfer options for both servers.
Why would this not be flagged as something that was happening soon? All of our guild spent money to transfer all or some characters to Westfall and we will now all be moved to wherever we would have decided anyways… This feels at worst; intentional since many people are transferring with Cata approaching and not making everyone aware and wasting money doing this, or at best an oversight since this must have been decided well in advance.
What remedy will they provide for those of us who spent money in the days leading up to a server closures? I know our guild isn’t alone in this issue and it is very frustrating.
I’ve heard of stories of support giving money back in situations like this (paid transfers up to 2 weeks before free ones were offered - this is similar). Granted things have changed with Microsoft and layoffs but it’s worth seeing what you can do outside of this forum post.
Try submitting a ticket and hopefully, you get your money back at least.
The devs have been talking about doing this since the end of March on Twitter. They could and should have posted something here but it seems like you weren’t visiting this forum anyways, so how would you know? If you wanna keep up on news… you gotta keep up on news.
If you plan on doing something with financial impact it should be announced in a place at time of purchase like any other business. Also the end of March was 2 weeks ago… It’s a game not a job, the expectation can’t be to make players scan forums and Twitter to be updated about it.
I read patch notes when they come out, and big announcements. That should be all that players NEED to do.
People should not be expected to know things based on Twitter information.
I knew that this was upcoming even though I have not been playing this and I only have my X account because of Blizzard news, as I hate the platform, but regardless of that, no one should feel like it’s a requirement. Things should not ever be shared on Twitter/X first.
Also, the lack of empathy shown to other people from many regular posters on here, while the same people have near complete support for a company, is disgusting.
I’m glad I got here first to give real, human level, information.
No one cares. The information was out there and it should have been posted here as well but the OP straight up admitted they don’t come to the forums. Where else should it be posted? In the launcher? Okay, what about people who don’t read the launcher? How many dozens of places should the information be posted for the lazy, careless folk?
People have an extreme lack of self accountability. The information was out there for two weeks now, it has been discussed thoroughly on the forums.
You came back to these forums to whine and complain. I do not care about your emotions, sorry. The information was out there, whining and crying is all people do nowadays.
If more people came to the forums to ask legitimate questions and converse like adults, you would see a lot more positive posts from me. As it stands, most people come here to have childlike emotional tantrums and to whine and disappear into the nether. I’ve helped some people with actual problems that can be solved, but those posts are few and far between.
I came back because I wanted to and won’t stay for that long. I haven’t been posting a lot, especially on this (Wrath) forum.
It does seem to be a very hostile atmosphere though and new people won’t bother with it due to that. That’s why few are. If you don’t care and you just want to converse with the same other consistently rude people that’s fine, but I’m just calling it out for the truth of what it is.
My last few posts before today on this Wrath forum were only made to help other people out (one made to explain how to transfer, and another to explain about the posting avatar). I did not whine in either one, I kept them simple. Half of the posts today where not whiny but did give information.
Today did I whine kind of? Sure, I don’t like the devs direction of Classic and I don’t like mega servers. Do I expect you to care about that or the frequent posters on here? Not at all. However, I got to post what I wanted to, and am glad I got to do it.
I do not understand being rude to others who didn’t do anything to deserve it. Being rude to others and not showing empathy is not adult behavior, it is immature behavior.
I don’t even see the OP as whining. I just saw this one as someone being disappointed they lost $200 and I did respond to it to help them. I had friends who got money back after transfers were opened a week later. Telling people about potential refunds and how to transfer is explaining to people how actual things can be solved.
ETA: I didn’t want you to care about my emotions, I’m very aware that you, and others who think like you, don’t care about me, or anyone but yourselves, based on your latest posts in general. I asked why you were rude to the OP.
Blizzard doesn’t give a crap. You can make a ticket but they won’t do anything, not a single cent. They won’t even credit back to their own store, meaning they’d still be keeping the money, just allowing you to switch your purchase for something else. They just can’t be bothered.
Delimicus made statements about me and my posts lately and my reply was to that as well as a lot of it being about the rudeness to others. Your response in that way is entirely expected from you.
Hello resident white knight. I don’t see this news anywhere in the launcher or in the game client or even in an email to the registered address. Those would be the logical places to have this information instead of a third-party web site ruled by somebody who fancies himself a modern day Führer.
As someone else stated, it should be somewhere within the battle net launcher. Like patch notes and the other news that you can scroll through. This is how it always was communicated back in the day. I don’t have Twitter and as you stated it wasn’t on the forums.
I said it before but it bears repeating: the expectation surely cannot be that players are required to go on Twitter (third-party site unconnected to the game), or go through a FORUM to get news. There could be an announcement in the launcher, where they tell us maintenance is happening, or even just say “check this place for an update”. I work long hours and frankly had never even heard forums had news until now because it isn’t made known by Blizzard for those of us who are “retreads” (played back in the day and came back in LK.) And it is a FORUM which is not indicative of a place a company makes widespread announcements to affected parties.
I can appreciate your take on accountability, however, I think in this case the accountability lies with the company not communicating with it’s player base and collecting money from them despite making questionable (at best) decisions that negatively impact people.
Sorry bud, but you’re not getting your money back. I paid to transfer three characters to Westfall at 9am and then found out later that day the servers were closing. They’re refusing the refund as I effectively used the service.
It’s a nonsense. I have used the service, but it’s not the service that I paid for. I’m just letting my subscription run down, and have contacted the bank to advise them that transaction is fraudulent.
lol … you don’t converse like an adult. You converse like a 12 year old who happens to be able to speak using adult words. You talk AT people … not TO people. That’s not mature conversation (aka dialog) … it’s immature monologueing.
Oh … you mean our current president, who is a PUBLIC SERVENT, who just decides whatever he wants regardless of what the majority of people, the supreme court, and the laws have to say? vs. a PRIVATE business owner who can do whatever he wants with his own business?
