Transfering... Stormrage or Proudmoore?

I would like to start by thinking everyone gave me opinions, advice and share their experiences in my previous thread. That helped me make the final decision to pull the trigger on Faction Changing. It means a lot to me and says a lot about this community.

At the end of this week I am Faction changing to Alliance. But first I have time to fill everyone in on what I’m doing and I need to decide if I’m going to Stormrage or Proudmoore and I would love to hear input from people who have played on both servers. I have heard a lot of really good things about the player base on Proudmoore but I’ve never played there myself.

I’m a casual PVPer. I absolutely love things involving warmode. I also can’t get enough of battlegrounds. My death knight is my Arena junkie toon. I am in MST time zone

Stormrage has a huge benefit for me though because all my horde characters names are saved on lvl 1s. Names that would be impossible to get nowadays without the use of special characters

Stormrage is the biggest Alliance realm and is significantly more populated than Proudmoore. I have alts on both realms so this isn’t just me looking at realm pop websites. Stormrage also has twice as many raiding guilds that have killed a mythic boss. Economy is healthier on Stormrage as well. I’d personally pick the biggest realm possible because it’ll likely remain that way for the forseeable future.

Stormrage is extremely high pop, but known for toxic players. Proudmoore is still high pop, but known for being the most welcoming realm this side of the faction line. It’s the unofficial LGBTQ realm, people are generally way nicer. I almost moved to Stormrage and I thank my lucky stars that I went with Proudmoore instead.

There is still a healthy raiding population on PM.

It’s rather laid back here in Proudmoore.

I am in Stormrage.
IMO, i see a lot of toxic players, try-hard elitist that aren’t really.
Met some good people, but they are few but they are there.
I’m betting they are on Proudmoore too though.

I would look at the Proudmore guild recruitment if there are guilds recruiting for the gameplay that you like, raiding, pvp, etc.
Also look at the timezones. When I looked, most Proudmoore guild was posting PST, which to me at EST, does not work.

If you raid - I would apply to guilds on each, trial during a heroic run, and once you find a fit with a guild that accepts you, then make the move.

If you don’t raid - then I dunno what to tell you…they’re both pretty populated so farming/crafting/gold-making should be about the same.

I agree with Stormrage having more elitist/toxic players. I know this first-hand. I recommend Proudmoore as well. I’ve had toons over there and it’s a good community. Stormrage, not so much.

Don’t agree that Stormrage is toxic. It’s a very casual server now for the most part. Most of the elitist community has left over the years and transferred to Horde. That includes basically every high end guild that has ever raided here. In my experience it is noticeably less toxic than large Horde realms like Illidan or Area 52. You are however going to have SOME elitist players on any large server.

I chose stormrage because it’s hosted in the nearest data center to me for low ping, the in-game time is the same as the real life time where I live, there’s a wealth of guilds to choose from as the server with the largest alliance population in the US,… and it had the name I wanted.

Proudmore is an RP server, right? Bear in mind that you’ll only encounter other players in war mode that are also from RP servers. There may be far fewer people out in the world with fewer servers to shard with.

Toxicity? Sure, a bit. There’ll be elitists and political cultists anywhere that a bunch of players congregate. I wouldn’t let it deter you. Toxic players exist on every server. What’s important is finding a good guild and there are many to choose from on stormrage.

“Opinions Differ” My wife and I both played on Stormrage and it was pretty toxic (hate using that word) but that’s what best describes that server.

In my years of playing this game I would have to say most of the World of Warcraft community is pretty bad off, at least the people I’ve come in contact with.

When you make a switch from playing this game to any other MMO on the market you can really tell the difference between the communities. I have a few characters on Proudmoore and that isn’t too bad of a server, though I prefer Sargeras for my alliance realm.

Proudmoore was and has been just a pve server not an Rp realm.

I don’t know what it is about that server because people say battlegroups don’t matter anymore? But I have a friend there who also plays on stormrage and he says that on stormrage he wins random battlegrounds about 65 to 70% as Alliance but on Sargaras he only wins about 35-45%

Due to this I’m not so sure I believe people when they say battlegroups don’t matter anymore. Server seems to definitely matter

I have a similar experience on Area 52. I have a very high win ratio as horde there. But another friend on tichondrius says they spam lose Battlegrounds over there which is why he teams up with me all the time and pretty much forces me to do the invite and Q so he zones to my server instead of me zoning to his. He calls it piggybacking the Area 52 win ratio LOL

Thank you, my mistake.

Stormrage is hosted from the Chicago datacenter; Proudmoore from Los Angeles. I say choose whichever you live closest to.

I guess in the end it all comes down to what you think will be best for you. I don’t remember what my win/loss % was, this was back before everything was changed with the servers.

I do know that there always seems to be this “grass is greener on the other side” syndrome when I played Alliance. I would always read threads on the pvp forums of alliance players complaining about how they couldn’t manage a win when playing battlegrounds.

In the end I would do what the person below posted, pick whichever one you feel strongest towards and go with that server.

No Biggie,

No, Proudmoore is a normal realm. The forums mix it up with Moonguard all the time. It’s weird.

i was on proudmoore for like a hot second and transferred to MG because of the amount of homophobic stuff in proudmoore chat.

Proudmoore gets my vote. Very healthy economy, generally nice people and plenty of good guilds to choose from for all playstyles. It’s my favorite Alliance server ever, for sure.

I haven’t played on proudmoore.

I recently rolled an alt and leveled it on stormrage and wow. Compared to the current dead server (undermine) that my alliance toons are on its a very welcome breath of fresh air. I’m seriously debating transfering one or 2 toons from undermine to stormrage and leaving the rest to whither on the vine so to speak.

I say Proudmoore the community is active, its still I believe considered one of the big three Alliance realms? With Stormrage and I want to say Sargeras beating it or maybe I’m mixed up in that, but I know it’s a choice among many when deciding. And personally I think it’s activity level is wonderful but the friendliness of the community is what speaks volumes and gets my vote.
