Blizzard, Anyway we could get an actual buff for Trail of Light so we can track it easily?

You probably can with a WeakAura, by tracking and storing the last target healed by FH / Heal.
There are a couple on Wago, just look up “Trail of Light”. I can’t link directly to it from here.
Realistically would knowing this information ever change the way you played though? Perhaps, but rarely.
Ya those really only track the name of the last cast, I guess 10.0 broke some of the older weak auras that work. Ya it does change the way I play. I can know that some of my healing will go to someone else and that can change priority. The data seems like its there just not open to us. Why not open it up?
Yes, it is possible to track the Trail of Light buff in frames. Although it is completely pointless to try and track this during raid, I did make something to do this a few expacs back in VuhDo for benefit in 5mans. Mana used to be tighter back then so I did everything I could to maximize efficiency… Sorry I only use VuhDo, so can’t help with other raid frame addons. Here are the export strings:
This consists of a weak aura that does the actual tracking and stores the info when you are talented into ToL. Then there is a “bouquet” to import in VuhDo that retrieves the info and sets flags based on it. After importing those, you lastly need to go to VuhDo indicators for your profile, and assign it to a desired indicator such as special dot or outer, etc.
The way it functions is that if you continue to cast repeated heal/fheal on the target marked with a green indicator, you can be sure that it will be sending ToL healing to the target marked with an orange indicator. Here are some more tips for using it:
This is obviously most useful when you have damage patterns where a particular DPSer takes lots of hits but tank is getting most. So to set that up, just tag the problematic DPS with flash heal first and then tank second, and try to use heal/fheal on tank. The indicators will help you remember that ToL relationship and let you know when it gets off.
If your targets get wonky, just remember to reset by again healing the DPS first and then tank second to reset it back to how you want your ToL healing to lean.
Also remember you can easily reverse who is the ToL target, by healing the opposite, so if you heal the orange target with flash heal, it will become green and the opposite becomes the new recipient of ToL heals. Hope this helps.
