Trading post this month is awful. Why ruin the game?

I swear people are going to say this exact same thing when they see updated Kezan assets in TWW. “A hamburger on a grill?! That’s not like WoW at all!”

Yeah a holiday known and celebrated the world over that just gives a little clockwork toy that fits with the theme of the current technology of the game or furry suits…

Swimwear somehow breaks the immersion even more than the star destroyers in Legion.

It doesn’t. It was equally dumb.

As if the santa suit feel like warcraft, yeah right keep talking dude.

And saying that Christmas is celebrated “the world over” is just being stuck in the west to be honest, because Asia dont celebrate this.

And well, i can also talk about Love in air when you use parfume, and people have gas mask, totally feel like wow.

Or i can also mention noble garden with the rabbit ears mog, totally feel warcraft!

But yeah, when people will understand that there is nothing off with the summer thematic, because well, yes people all over the world celebrate the summer and go the beach when its getting warmer if they can.

Yeah, i have no issues with that, i just feel people get bit hypocrit here, criticizing an harmless trading post mogs, and says nothing when you get a massive holliday that is just nothing like warcraft in their logic, and same with the for example titan devices that talk like your anti-virus software…

A titan device that talk like a computer is ok, but a goblin with an hamburger in a grille “whats this abberation!”

Fits fine. And even if it didn’t, its an npc for 3 weeks that leaves. Now you have this gen z trashmogs running around 24/7. Not even a comparison.

I just chalk it up to people wanting the pure Warcraft aesthetic and either not realizing or not liking and thus pretending that stuff as equally silly as this has been a defining element of the game for the majority of its existence now.

The line is always incredibly arbitrary what constitutes “too silly to fit in” – and it always comes down to whether or not they personally like it. Example the first, the OP wearing a magical girl Sailor Moon Valentine’s mog and thinking some beach getup that perfectly fits in with the depiction of partygoing, soda-drinking, pool pony riding goblins is a step too far.

It is, genuinely, idiotic. And I don’t usually dismiss arguments like that, but it’s frustrating when people who pretend to be championing the integrity of the game clearly don’t know the first thing about it.

You can mog the santa suit yourself you know, and also, in the same way, you have the Indiana Jones type mogs, that is clearly not working with the “technology” and also the dresses from Love in Air, like you cant tell me the Love in air fits, and you can mog all the time.

Literally nobody said this. Since you struggle with basic literacy, let me spell it out as clearly as possible:

Half of your examples for the point of “This is very high tech, therefore 20th Century consumer goods are fine” are not actually high tech at all. You gave bad examples, you not only cannot read, you don’t even have a good grasp of history.

I could understand grilling as it’s a way to cook food for almost every culture for thousands of years. However it’s unnecessary to put such an item in the game. It’s still not as rediculous as this beach crap.

You can only mog the Santa suit during winter veil, it’s seasonal.

The point is the modernized aesthetic that goblins have had since they were first implemented as a playable race over a decade ago. Have you actually explored Kezan, or any post-WOTLK goblin settlement or dungeon in the game? If you don’t like it, it’s fine, but you have to do some ridiculous mental gymanstics to explain how benign beachwear mogs are any more ridiculous or somehow breaks the thematic consistency of WoW when we’re currently playing through a 12-year-old expansion where we assemble a makeshift bomb using giant batteries and a pool pony.

They drink cola, play football, and have beach parties. What exactly is so out of place here?

I thought all that was silly and in some way breaks immersion. Goblins usuallly kept their crap to Kezan with the silly stuff. Goblin and gnome technology was always pushing the line, I never really like it.

To be honest, we left the realistic Azeroth theme a long time ago.

We do have a playable race, that comes from the Marvel universe, each time I see a Vulpera I ask myself, If Spiderman or the Ninja Turtles, show up next. :scream:

We can fly on discs, have a love rocket as mount, transmogs that were inspired by Pride Parades and so on.

I personally don´t mind the beach outfit that much, the stuff above is much more troubling to the franchise in my opinion and we have that for years now.

Does it stop me from playing? Nah, but I don´t spend time or money on these things.

“Asia don’t celebrate this”

Are you just unaware of the Philippines, or how the Japanese engage with the holiday or something? Even non-Christian countries in Asia such as India recognize it as a public holiday. They also have notable celebrations for it in places like Korea & Malaysia. Aside from the fact that your example of Asia doesn’t work, the charge of Eurocentrism falls flat, too. Christmas is celebrated in the West, in Latin America, Africa, parts of the Middle East, parts of Central Asia & some parts of South & East Asia. If anything, the person you’re talking to isn’t “stuck in the West.” You’re just mentally stuck in either North Africa or China, take your pick.

If you’re going to speak on behalf of other cultures, at least have the decency to put in the bare minimum effort and check Public Holidays or Christian population figures. You are more than likely some secular Redditor who has never been outside of a Western Country in your life, but want to score points by speaking on behalf of foreigners. It’s gross, shameful and profoundly ignorant.

I mean, I can respect that, I just don’t think you can say the beachwear mogs don’t fit in with Warcraft as a whole.

And like, sure it sucks to see stuff on the TP you aren’t into, I go through that just about every month. But if it’s a part of Warcraft’s established setting and it fits in with the Summer theme and appeals to a lot of people, it’s fair game.

I do want more “serious” mogs up there too, but it’s not like we aren’t getting that in general. Virtually every piece of gear outside of the TP, for example. Or the upcoming Arathi sets that look very high fantasy in the traditional WC style.

They been doing monthly themed stuff if you been playing , like its june so they doing summer stuff lol

I guess this is the main disconnect for me. Of all the many, many examples we have of WoW having silly cosmetics, pop cultural references and a whole goulash of themes that don’t fit in with the already heavily modernized rendition of “medieval fantasy” since pre-Vanilla days, the beachwear feels inoffensive at worst.

It’s like 5 year old level summer stuff.

Well what would be adult summer stuff ?
