Trading post is a good thing, but I would like to see it expand just from mogs and mounts to hairstyles that all races can wear, racial dance moves that you can use on any race, new emotes, different Idle stances, jokes etc. I will also take a stab at adding housing items come midnight.
Barbershop options on the Trading Post is something I really want.
I wonder, why not just add hairstyles for free, for everyone? It feels a little strange for the barber to say “I can do this hairstyle on this other person because they bought it with the trading post, but not you”
I like the idea of new customization options in the barbershop.
I dislike the idea of them being locked behind the trading post for an undetermined amount of time.
Maybe just open up all dances for all races.
Why not just add barbershop options to the actual barbershop? I don’t see the need for purchasing things that should be added for free.
Blizzard: Best I can do is Gloves, Helm, Helm again, Helm again, Shoulders, Shoulders again, Skirt, Skirt again, Skirt again, recolors.
Housing items will definitely happen. I doubt they’ll do the rest
Let players in an capital city studio experiment with recoloring any armor in their collection, then post it for public vote. The best recolors each month end up in next months trading post (and the submitting player get’s a cut of what it sells for).
Making it a real trading post.
Even if Blizz implemented something like this, the bolded part is an absolute no.
Could do it otherwise, but if we want to create some kind of incentive for folks to invest real time in coming up with startling and engaging new designs there should be some kind of reward. Ideally scaled by impact.
Not saying it should be gold, just sharing out traders tender might be sufficient. But if we’re calling it a trading post, we should start looking at actually doing some trading.
And this could really help with the complaint that fully supporting the potential of the trading post to keep gear lively, timely, and engaging takes too much dev time.
Hair, eyes, scars, tattoos…the possibilities would be fun!
exclusivity is a good thing. it creates uniqueness and prestige.
I try to shake down the trading post every month, but they never give into my demands.
No.
It was never meant to carry barber options that should be available for free or as quest rewards. And new hairstyles, by nature, would not be usable by every single race because the models for tauren, (male) draenei, worgen, and vulpera handle hair differently, earthen hair is made out of wire, and dracthyr in their real forms don’t have hair at all.
And it’s definitely not going to sell universal animations and voice lines.
The trading post is meant to sell mogs, mounts, toys, and pets, yet so many of y’all want Blizzard to go full Korean mobile game and let it sell this and a bunch of other crap, up to and including removed prestige rewards and race unlocks. It’s no different from the myriad of demands for allied races to include a gorillion NPC races that we’ve either quested with or were sent to slaughter.
Same reason other games sell character customizations: keeps you giving them money.
the big customization push in shadowlands was a fluke
Why?
So it’s okay for a hairstyle to be acquired through the game one way but not another?
It’s meant to have cosmetics in a fun way to acquire things in game. I don’t see the issue. No one is asking for them to be purchased on the cash shop.
They could add druid forms, shaman ghost wolf alternatives, demon skins for locks, pet skins for hunters, mage skins for their elementals and more.
It would certainly shake up the TP but people might get mad if they can’t afford a mount + their class skins at the same time.
i’ve been saying this for years but if they just gave us a hairstyle functional with witch hats the fanbase would go stupid go crazy
They really need to rework that part of the engine to allow hats to work with hair. Indiana Jones hats, beanie hats, witch hats… all of the actual hats.
