Trading Post is fomo?

Quick, delete your post to instill some fear of missing out clapping back to your comment.

I had my doubts, but you aren’t wrong the rewards for August are really nice.

Blizzard devs doing a really nice job with the trading post.

It’s fomo lite yuh as in It’s gone its not gone forever but gone for an undisclosed amount of time :dracthyr_shrug:

Basically in my opinion its on the line if it ever turns full FOMO with stuff never coming back or they add unlimited purchaseble tender bundles it will cros the line into predatory.

You were never intended to get all the items each month, which is why they said that items will rotate back around in the future. Just get the most important items to you, lock one that you want but can not afford and be wait for them to cycle back in.

The fact it had a few items return already means you aren’t FOMOing as bad as one might think, this is about as FOMO as in-game Holidays.

yeah i asked cause i was honestly unsure, but after seeing the responses its not really fomo like.

I don’t really understand this. There are only a couple of things from each post that I even want. I have plenty of tendies banked. Are people really trying to buy everything? Do you need every item, really? I just don’t get it.

i wanna collect everything on the collectibles cause its cool

i want everything right now and if i don’t get it, that’s psychological manipulation

nice way of being hostile there and twisting my words.

Fomo tends to motivate you into doing everything so you don’t miss anything.

Trading Post is designed in a way that you can’t work your way into getting everything. You have to make a choice.

So, I wouldn’t say it’s fomo.

Items will eventually cycle back in if you can’t get everything you want, and you can pick one item to freeze indefinitely.

I’d personally like a couple more freeze slots.

i wasn’t referring to you specifically

They’ll be back. One item from the first Trading Post month is back this month already. But honestly, I think they should rethink their prices. They keep adding bonus tendies because they put too much good stuff on in a month. Just lower the price of the higher priced things.

it’s the first month where i’m going to get to save a lot of tendies.
most of those rewards look pretty terrible to me.
i’ll get the gloves, and grab the cloaks to add to my collection.

don’t be?

we’re already seeing items cycle around for a second time.

and even if you WERE to miss out on a thing, nothing bad is going to happen.

save your “fear” for something worthy
like: “if i choose to not to look up from my phone while crossing the road, i could end up a paraplegic or worse”.

there’s no need to fear pixels.

Hey would you look at that, they added some tenders to a paid bundle on the cash shop, who could have possibly seen this coming and was also attacked on these very forums for saying as much

Yes, I know. It’s a dumb reason, and places Blizzard in the role of babysitter because players do not have self control and act like it’s on the company to not make them feel ‘pressured’.

Part of why I haven’t done much in DF is due to the WQ change. Those keep me in areas quite often, as I enjoy them.

Because as we have seen, considering the forum exploded while I was off playing ck3 - they 100% plan to sell tenders, somehow someway. This is the slippery slope, and is just starting to prove to me that they designed the Post with the intent of this fomo design specifically for this reason, or at the very least plan to take full advantage of it.

It’s scummy and makes me more apathetic to the system as a whole than it does excited. That isn’t good for something meant to retain people month after month.

Until something else comes that you can’t buy without sacrificing other stuff you’d like, then you have to decide whether to freeze the new thing or keep your original frozen item in there.

People will complain about everything. They’d at least make more happier by either allowing us to gain more tenders per month by fully filling out our adventurer guide if we want to, or changing it to where it’s an additive system instead of a rotating system.

But of course, they couldn’t sell us the solution without the use of fomo, could they?

They’ll come back. The bow, dagger, flail and maces were there in previous months. I’m guessing mounts may take longer to cycle back, but the base cosmetics aren’t rare at all

Prices are only going to go up from now on to incite buying tendies beyond the monthly cap (store bundles)

I think a lot of people are missing that for the trading post to be an evergreen thing, it does need to be made this way.

It’s not for the FOMO aspect, but just devhours. There’s only so much they want to budget for it, so if they let you buy everything every month you’re either going to have the problem that collectors will complain that there’s barely anything new if you keep cycling stuff, or people who weren’t playing won’t get a chance at earlier stuff if they keep making a ton of new stuff.

But basically it seems like the idea is that they make or add in a bunch of stuff that wasn’t available elsewhere items up front, keep up with good new monthly goals, and then once they’ve cycled through the original set, you add in a few new things each month and a mix of recycled stuff. Since you can’t get it all every month, you’re not likely to have a majority of stuff in your inventory already for a while, and they don’t have to do a huge number of new items every month to make sure there’s still something most people want (And that also means that if there isn’t anything you really want this there’s still the chance next month will have a ton of stuff and the extra tenders will be handy.)

It’s not so much a FOMO deal, it’s a sub retention deal, something to keep people logging in month after month, especially if they keep up with the yearly achievement sets. I mean, a warden set it probably gonna appeal to a good number of people.

Yes, they come back to the game with time. The Fury of the Firelord mace was actually one of the first items to appear on the trading post when it launched, and now it’s back in August.

So if you don’t have enough tender and have already frozen an item, don’t worry, they’ll cycle back around.
