Let’s be real for a second. This is an ABK game. The Trading Post had WAY too much fanfare and has WAY too much effort put into it for it to just be a free way to get transmog and mounts. There’s almost nothing else in the game like it.
Maybe I’m just untrusting. Maybe I just don’t like the taste of the ABK Kool-Aid™. Maybe it is just a retention sink. Who knows.
But when they flip that switch a year from now and suddenly you can buy Tendies or some ‘Trading Post Charter’ Elite Battle Pass on the WoW store, you better believe I’ll be necroing this thread faster than a Havoc DH can get through one cycle of their rotation.
Overwatch 2 was a herald for what is to come. Just you wait.
I am still waiting for the you just wait when the sparkle pony meant they were going to start selling gear in the store and that’s been over a decade, but I guess I can add you to the list.
of course it will be like a battlepass if the game don’t make enough money does it make enough idk and do i really care not in 2023. would blizzard be wrong for doing it nah if you ain’t realized by now that any and every game is out to squeze every last dollar from you idk. i don’t think it will ever happen though cause there’s to many people here using the shop for whatever reason constantly and to many who buy new expacs still even when they just quit in no time it ain’t battlepass time yet.
I guess I don’t really see the potential outrage if Tender ended up being sold on the store, or some such equivalent. We already have mounts, pets, toys, and mog sold on the store - what’s the difference? It’s just more steps, though I guess with some presumed limited exclusivity based on the rotation compared to most store items.
To be clear, I don’t have any prticular desire for this to happen. I do think that the Trading Post would serve a much better goodwill function for Blizzard if it remained as just a veteran reward program. But I don’t think I’d personally care much if it did happen, and I don’t think it would radically change anything.
Aren’t you happy that you get something else for $15 a month except play time? Blizzard had the worst sub system for 20 years. All games offer free gameplay but offer extra for sub. Wow charged you $15 just so you can log in.
More content is usually a good thing. I just dread content I have to pay for on top of my subscription. It’s why I hate the WoW in-game store and the token so much.
