i now was trying to find this post lol
wait. wait what? how? i thought stuff on the trading post rotated by month?
I thought July and August offered 1400 tenders each? Do people just blow through their monthly allowance each time?
It’s basically guaranteed you’re going to see things you’ll want any given month, the smart player would hold aside X tenders for a rainy day, rather than complain about not having enough for the next month’s crop because they just had to have all those items in July.
in august we get the 3 sets
then next month the other 3
and so on
edit september
oh.
huh… i thought we were getting these sets for august, and then they’d be rotated out.
huh…
i mean in September is when we get the first 3 not august lol
…huh… well heck, now i feel like an idiot.
though you could see my confusion! i mean, august is literally starting tomorrow, they randomly put-up a post about the sets and the trading-post… you can see how i reached my conclusion.
Blizz specifically said this isn’t going to be the case.
The design is to keep people playing so that they come back month to month to see what is being cycled back in to buy it later.
I don’t know why this concept is lost on so many people.
I’m just going to say this once and only once:
There is no limited time when all of it is being cycled back in.
August has items from previous months. Last month had items from previous months.
Let’s use our brains, please.
its all good had a brain fart also lol
i love when that happens
idk how people just go and blow through everything every month i mean most of it looks garbo anyway imo
the only worth it things are the extended cloaks for old tier sets and the odd weapon and hood/scarf/cape ensemble
^ This was my exact thought.
I am pretty good at spotting the early signs of a scam, so when I saw this I became shifty eyed, and this is exactly where I thought they were going with it.
I still think they intended to do this initially, but received push-back when it was leaked(?) / suspected. I also still expect them to somehow make RL profit off this system. If they don’t outright sell the currency, they’ll start selling old Trading Post stuff in the store that you weren’t able to acquire for RL money, or something.
That’s my paranoid take anyway. lol
Lack of self-control.
If I have no plans to use it, then I just don’t get it. Others, however, cannot resist missing the FOTM.
My current suspicion (assuming they aren’t just straight up lying about not putting them on the cash shop, which is a possibility I’m not going to dismiss) is that it’s setup for the Microsoft buyout and GamePass.
Microsoft won’t want to put WoW on GamePass because they’ll lose money from the players who already sub to both. So having GamePass give monthly rewards in WoW while WoW itself remains a separate subscription would give WoW players incentive to subscribe to both.
Like, I would love to be wrong (and sure, I apparently was about them going on the cash shop, so I could be) but there’s just that level of nagging cynicism that never goes away, especially given the whole system feels so perfectly designed to be monetized I don’t believe that it can be like that coincidentally.
Blizz already broke me with caring about Trading Post. Since most of the big point giving quests are DF exclusives, I just stopped wanting to pay attention to Trading Post. I’ve probably put more hours into this game this month than most people, but zero in DF content.
I’m not getting the grotto drake this month and I’d rather not get it if it means not touching current xpac timegate. I value doing what I want to do over being baited into doing things I don’t want to do.
Is this recent? I’m just curious, you must have not had this attitude when you got true friend with both Sabellian and Wrathion, as those are relatively easy but still time consuming grinds.
Anyway, i would presume it’s not be too difficult to amass the required points doing non-DF content.
You do realize that the purpose of the trading post is to keep people subbed. They aren’t going to let people buy everything every month. That way they can reuse the same items later.
The system’s entire point is to keep you returning over several months (subscription $$$), not down a few Mtn Dews and crank it all up in a single night.
Eh? Most of what I do every month is old stuff. Run old raids for the raid bosses, do the holiday stuffs and the fun stuffs.
This month, 140 points come from Trial of Style. Another 200 points from Free T-Shirt Day. And then BC Timewalking gets you 150 points.
If you’re Exalted with Aldor or Scryer, you’ll get 100 points. Defeat Outland pet tamers for 100 points. Fish up 50 items in Outland for 100 points.
There’s lots of stuffs to do for all of it outside of DF.
I got that in December before I quit DF (and started only doing legacy content). I love grinds. I only do group content if it’s not roadblocked by timegate, otherwise it’s not worth it.
Moving me off waiting around or trying to make it easier to “accept” the timegate is what I hard ignore.
The “defeat 25 raid bosses” and “complete 15 world quests” are the only ones that filled in for me this month, and only filled in because they were completable with older xpacs. I will not do trading post quests just for the sake of it. I either get it for completing content I do or I don’t, as I will not do things I don’t want to do or aren’t worth it on their own. Not to mention the big point givers are DF locked still, so I’d have had to farmed 1000 points elsewhere which is nope territory for me.
I’d rather take the hit getting less cosmetics and mount than do DF timegate content.
See, there’s the problem
