The people not having a mental breakdown about lag and having fun using the toys they earned.

So merely pointing it out and calling attention to it is a “mental breakdown” now? Funny . . . but seriously, theres a time and a place for everything and maybe, just MAYBE the epicenter of a lag storm isn’t the place for the fel spreader toy? Just saying some folk DO run this game on older rigs. shrug

Are you the arbiter of when the time and place is? I get it, the lag sucks, but your frustration doesn’t trump a bit of fun for people that don’t share the problem.

And the only reason I’m so defensive about it is because people have been suspended over this, and that’s a dogwater reason to suspend people from your game.

At worst, you should keep Hanlon’s Razor in mind. If you’re unfamiliar; you shouldn’t assume malice when stupidity, ignorance or error will suffice.

where are people getting the fun in these ? there is nothing much to them except to annoy others.

From the toys. If you find toys to be always annoying in a crowded area, where do you propose is the good place for toys? Alone, tucked away in the /bow section of the Roasted Ram?

People are excited, they react in various ways. Often, that ends up in toy usage, because they’re fantastic little tidbits you can spit out for a congenially good time.

Im confused

What I am asking is how is spreading a green color on the ground ‘fun’?

Complete the intro Tour the Trading Post quest. Once you turn it in you get access to the TP tab on the Adventure Guide. There’s a list of things there that will earn Tenders. :dracthyr_nod:

For who? I can’t answer that for every individual. For me, that specific toy is usually just a response to other toys.

Occasionally I’ll try to spook someone with it in trivial content, make them think they’re standing in bad. In which case it’s a bit like a prank.

you seriously think anyone falls for that? the only ones who might is brand new players and do you find taking advantage of someone’s ignorance ‘fun’?

Ok first off, and this ones my bad, my inability to complete the quest and the lag were unrelated (it was some kinda bug with the quest, it passed and I got it done) so THAT ONE is on me.

Second, I only assume because ya know, its something some folk have done, admitted doing it for that reason, and continue to do it whenever they can (a shocking number of people derive their enjoyment from trolling others), and hey, I’m sorry for the innocent people who have been caught up and lumped together with these trolls, but sometimes you NEED to read the room.

When they’re focused on something else? Yes.

If this is how you approach any harmless fun, I can’t imagine how you enjoy anything in WoW. What do you do when a priest tugs you to safety? Get mad because you assume they did it to annoy you?

Sometimes, yeah. I’m not going to suggest that no one is malicious. It’s just not the norm. There is something to be said about mob mentality, but I really don’t think people are out there en masse trying to lag Athorian’s game. Or any other individual’s.

At worst there might be a concerted effort to lag an area, but there’s usually evidence of that. And I’d never assume it, per Hanlon’s Razor.

The only toy I find annoying is the train set, only because back when it was added in Wrath, everyone used it all the time, and the sound is grating.

The rest I love.

Annoyances vary from person to person.

actually I do because they usually do that to annoy others - there is a reason blizzard put an item in the game to prevent that.

oh boy you sure have low opinions of others.

Your ‘fun’ is based on trolling others in short.

you aren’t explaining where the fun in them is? I have 550 toys and almost never use any because they might be interesting to look at once but that is pretty much it.

This is wild. Even with the context I gave you, you double down on that philosophy. You deserve to die to what ever it was, then.

No, I just understand Attention Theory. No one is capable of making snap judgments on new input when they’re spending their focus on other things.

Where is your fun? What’s fun about posting here? What’s fun about doing a dungeon? What’s fun about doing a raid? What’s fun about doing a world quest?

You keep demanding a difficult to answer question in any context, I want to see your attempt at this. Full disclosure, I will pick it apart, like you tried to.

sigh Look, I’m not telling you “No toys allowed in public settings”, fel recently I’ve taken to occasionally dropping my atomic recalibrator in the middle of the Valdrakken auction house entry, sometimes get a chuckle out of some of the reactions people have to suddenly being race swapped. However if theres so many people in that area that some folk are lagging, I realize its not an appropriate time to put the thing down and refrain from doing so, because that would be inconsiderate.

Same rules apply here, all I’m saying.

Which is a great rule of thumb, but you get no feedback on whether people are lagging. You can make an assumption, but you’d still just be making an educated guess. I don’t expect this from anyone.

I don’t stand in stuff that will cause me to die because guess what I can tell the difference between your troll toy and bad stuff. I have never been ‘saved’ by those grips.

there is no fun in the actual activity. However, there is sometimes fun in the interactions with others.

given the nature of this game? its safe to assume in this case that when theres a large group of players in a small space that SOMEONE is lagging or suffering fps drops (also rubber banding tends to be a good sign) because I also do NOT assume everyone just say “plays on the lowest settings” or some such. My enjoyment and fun doesn’t trump yours, but yours doesn’t trump mine either is what I’m saying.
