My assumption is it’s based on some kind of market research that shows female players are more responsive to transmogs and the trading post, and that butterfly wings and summer skirts are somewhat effective at female player retainment. Notice there’s also a pretty high proportion of Chinese themed items.
I think overall the mix is at least 50/50 in favor of cool things. They’re just releasing themes together.
February is Valentine’s Day and March is the first month of spring. You’re gonna get stuff themed in those months towards those.
January was like all awesome steampunk stuff. I’m sure April will have some dark moon and jester kind of stuff and so on.

Majority of gear in this game is far from girly.
We get some pink wings after decades and right on time, folks be complaining about how “girly” the game is.

I have a confession.
As manly as I am, one night I was looking out of my back door, I saw a moth coming straight at me, as I turned my head away the sucker flew right into my ear canal, like all the way in and got stuck at my ear drum.
I tried getting it out, thought I had in fact, until 3am something decided it wanted out and was going berserk.
Talk about stuff of nightmares, it felt like it was inside my head, well because IT WAS!
I couldn’t get to the doctor quick enough in the morning.
It was not fun, and I now shy away from flappy insects.
