I was just wondering how safe it is to trade yourself gold. It is my gold, it was never purchased, but I keep hearing horror stories about people getting suspended and banned. If there is a moderator reading these forum posts, doesn’t it show our same IP on the transaction? I just want to be sure everything is above board. Both accounts are even on the same credit cards. What are people getting flagged for? its also tough because some people cry on the forums that really are doing something shady.
most of them are from gdkps and or people going into discords and arranging gold trading setups. most of the time its involving illicit gold.
I buy tokens from the cash shop to sell on the AH for gold all the time.
Then I mail that gold to my other toons regularly.
The posts you see from those players aren’t being honest as to why they got into trouble.
thanks. I was just making sure. it takes them an entire week to respond to most tickets now so even though I would be cleared eventually I dont want to pay my monthly sub to not play for 1/4 of the month lol. I figured it was mostly people just trying to cheat the system.
If I mail 5k gold to my alt, that’s probably not a problem.
If I buy or ‘participate’ in a questionable gold event, and then mail 50k of it to my alt… That might be. GDKP runs are not likely a good way to go, if that’s what you’re running with.
If you’re aware of it, you might be hosed. If you’re not aware of it, but your gold is still coming from them you might still be hosed.
Mailing gold between alts is perfectly safe and pretty normal when getting started; being able to do it cross-faction now is also a huge boon because being broke on one side and loaded on the other back when you actually had to buy riding training was the most annoying thing
nope, no gdkp. and its nowhere near the amounts you are mentioning, more like 4k. I just got a little worried is all with these random posts. its completely legit. I have no even participated in a gdkp in wrath as of yet.
You’re perfectly safe. As long as it’s clean you can trade to yourself your friend anyone.
I lent my friend the whole amount for making the axe
Yeah, I mail gold around regularly, even in large amounts when I decide to buy a token. I’ve even traded large sums for various things to random players. Never had a problem. If someone’s account is getting flagged, I’m guessing there’s more to the story.
I’ve transferred hundreds of thousands of gold between toons and/or between my wife’s account and mine and I have never had an issue.
Me thinks there is more to the story of anyone who has.
thanks again everyone. great community (sometimes)
We’re not always an angry mob.
This. This 100%. I have seen COUNTLESS people claim they were banned for nothing, only for them to later admit it was because they just didnt agree with the rule.
Usually it is claiming ignorance to the rule. “I didn’t know that was a thing!”
Or my personal favorite, "All I did was [possibly mildly inappropriate behavior, but honestly understandable in the circumstances]
CS rep: aykshully, you [totally inexcusable rage event or excessively rude behavior]
I love reading the “I got banned for no reason” posts in customer service.
Back in the old days when I was making more gold, I’d pool large sums on a single alt without any problem.
(although I rarely actually took the extra step, it’s a good idea to generate an heirloom to send with any large sum of gold; since the heirloom is bind-to-account, it acts as a sanity check on your typing to make sure you don’t accidentally send it to a stranger)
well i was also nervous because even though i did nothing wrong, i got a 24 hour suspension for my name being reported, which it honestly wasnt that bad (it was still a legit suspension though) so I dont want anything stupid tp happen heh
I’ve got two accounts, and my bankers for both factions are on the same account. When it’s time to buy a token for gold for a month’s sub, or to add to my battle.net balance, I mail the gold from the one account to the other, and that’s like 265k or so at a time these days.
I’ve never had a problem doing that, and that’s a lot, lot more than the amounts you are talking about OP.
I’ve been doing that since the tokens were first introduced. And at some times, like when expansions come out, I’m moving even larger amounts between accounts to pump up the battle.net balance to buy the new expansions.

You can trade gold to your alts even buy a token for them. No one knows who the gold is given to. I really don’t see a problem unless your telling other your business which most people don’t do.
