Truly. Blizzard seems to be doubling down on players taking advantage of others. The retail AH is a part of that, probably.

4.5k is the discounted price. The actual price is 5k.

and good on you, I guess. You spent your gold elsewhere on other unimportant things.

You think vendoring items… and throwing an item on the AH is optimization?

You earn more than 100 gold in 30 minutes, and like I’d said you have too die 10 times to “not” earn gold from a dungeon.

There is also so much gem slots in your gear. You cannot physically use them all. Further add that 83% of the gems you get, you don’t want to use at all.

At this point it isn’t not trying to earn gold and not farming it. This is actively hoarding resources that you will never use, then not doing anything else and going “Why am I broke?”.

This is a player that is actively trying not to have gold. I don’t care how little you play, or how frugal you want to be to “clear content”. You will have items that you blindly throw on the AH, that will automatically fill out the sells information for you, and you can log off. No knowledge, no optimization, head empty, no thoughts.

Like? I didn’t level professions I simply did leveling and did train my spells. I even sold some stuff on the ah for a pretty decent price as then I wouldn’t even have had flying as early.

Which is still very slow and part of my argument.

That situation didn’t happen to me at all. I sold when it wasn’t a red gem (which are worth a lot less) but all red gems had their use. It took up to the gem change before I could fill all the slots for my heroic DS gear with that change I can self-sustain myself.

And still it will take a while to get 50k if you do the bare minimum. The fact that people buy token to get 20k gold should be self-explanatory. If 50k is so easy to get why would people spend that much to get 20k gold.

sht ratios anyway, whos actually doin it lol

I have 500k. If i was trading I would have several millions. You get the upperhand trading. I just wanted to trade my gold to horde when I transfer in mop. They need to increase the transfer limits

When you oversimplify it like that then yes it sounds rather silly. But what you’re describing in a broad sense is people actively changing the way they engage with the game to prioritize gold making.

The average player is going to want to level their alts as fast as possible to get them raid ready and that means sacrificing gold to reach the end game faster.
Yes you could hearth to Stormwind from plaguelands to auction off all the random green junk you’ve managed to stock up, or just vendor it all away to make bag space as you continue questing. Or you forger to vendor last quest turn ins and now your bags are too full to loot quest items, which means random greys go bye bye.

So yes, changing your playstyle from leveling fast to making the most money would be optimization.

Looking to see when they changed this I can see that they changed it to 250k in Legion. And saw a blue post from before confirming that the reason was for a better in-game economy.

Well stated.

The game isn’t as expensive as you claim, buying master riding is a waste of gold and I highly doubt players that don’t even have that much gold will prioitize that over something better.

It’s not a personal guess and it isn’t subjective, you said that the average player is a raider well…

This isn’t a guess, it’s widespread and I won’t believe you if you tell me that guilds in NA don’t do this.

The most a reforge will cost me is ~450g and that’s if I choose to switch from Fire to Arcane something that your average player won’t do.

Every guild I’ve seen offers free guild enchants, every guild and PuG run offer cauldrons and feasts and every guild has guild repairs enabled. What do you think people are spending their gold on to be so poor? What’s there to spend gold on? You’re being dismissive by saying that it’s subjective you’re just doing some diplomatic talk to not offend.

If you think that the average player is a raider then why not just wait to get summoned, they’re raid loggers right? so while their time matters it doesn’t really matter when their raid starts at 7 and they have all the time before that to get there. No real reason to get Artisan flying, no real point to get Master flying either not when you’re a raid logger who doesn’t play the game outside of raids.

Even less reason to get flying, barely playing the game.

Also that’s bad reasoning thinking that people wouldn’t vendor or AH the items that drop.

You know, you missed my point entirely or completely ignored it when I said dungeons for gold.

It’s not good gold to begin with but the point is that it adds up.

Do 10 and you’ve suddenly netted 1,000g, do dungeons for fun and suddenly your gold total goes up not a hard concept to grasp.

The gold you’d obtain by selling them is 100% worth it because if you think about it from a stat perspective it’s like what? ~200 main stat, and you could sell those gems for like… idk 3k each. Sell one and get rare gems, the average player won’t be using full epic gems.

Cause they’re lazy.

Which pretty much sum my point. Not withstanding the back and forth that’s pretty much it for the whole of it. At 100 gold a dungeon I haven’t done 50 dungeons this season, there’s just no way people are gonna get 50k at any rate from it if going back to clause 1 that they’re lazy. People get faster flying because going faster is fun I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the first buy of many people as soon as they can. You will reforge each time you get new gear at some point or a couple new pieces because it’s that easy and you can get an addon to do it for you, when you’re gearing up that might cost a lot.

So you think the average player is lazy… Okay

Well I’m just going to ignore you, you’re warped preception on what the average player is, not wanting to actually address the points I’ve made, only replying the the little things makes me believe that you’re just a troll and if you’re not then you should work on that because you’re acting like one.

I’ll just put these here, would’ve quoted more but this isn’t worth it anymore.

I have no idea how you managed to get on the commuity council.

You think the average player does dailies for 2 months?
The same way you talk about doing dungeons for me it’s wild. There’s no way most people spam dungeons for gold.

And even with consumables/repair can get rather cheap if you’re not actively trying to make gold it will take a while to get 50k. I also doubt most people sell all the greens they find on the ah or even have an enchanter.

This proves to me that you simply do not read what I say… This will be my last reply to you, don’t respond because I won’t reply.

I understand you’re speaking of ways you can get gold which even casual players can do. But that doesn’t mean people will do them moreover if it’s something that would take a lot of time. The same way also that people might not want to sell their gem simply because getting more powerful is a bigger goal, you have to apply the player element to the theory.

My brother in Elune, you made the argument that players are lazy.
He’s simply agreeing with what you said.

You keep arguing its possible to make gold in WoW and spend little.
He never disagreed with that argument. Just that this isnt how the average player engages with WoW.

There is a guy in my guild who does dailies on multiple alts every day he plays and has been around since day 1 classic. Hes rich.
Nobody else in that guild does that. Those who still regularly do dailies are the exception.

No… that isn’t a broad sense of people actively changing the way they engage with the game. That is them engaging with the game at all. You actively have to vendor items or you can’t pick up new things.

They actively go to the AH to buy bags, potions, gems, enchants, among other things.

They aren’t actively doing anything they wouldn’t normally be doing.

This pretending otherwise… to try to attempt justification of a player being unable to the very basic things they are required to do to “play minimally and only raid” is just stupid.

Like this is simply fact. A newbie who starts on a fresh account with no help and no idea what it is they are doing that learns how to use the AH to be able to purchase consumables and does not pick up any professions, but somehow only wants to raidlog, and do absolutely nothing else.

Over the process of leveling up would have earned enough gold to buy bags and 280% fly with the mounts attached. By the time they get PreBiS they would have earned enough gold to fully gem and enchant that gear on top of buying 310% flying. They would have enough money left over to buy Food, Flasks, and Potions to do their first raid.

From that point they can raidlog. Only logging in just before raid to buy enough consumables for that raid.

To this point, they have done absolutely nothing, but vendor item so they can pick up new ones.

Using the AH to put items up for sale while buying your consumables, specifically 1 red gem you get from Dragon Soul to afford the consumables for their next raid and still make some gold, isn’t optimization.

It isn’t even base-level.

My guess would be it’s an all for one over anniv gold trading.

since with 5 versions (era era, anniv, SoD, cata and retail) some were going they need anniv gold. They have 5 million or 50K in retail or cata respectively. Lets…make a deal!

Here is where I will drop the bait of yeah, the gdkp free wow really worked out well. Worked well at getting goal posts moving there. GDKP gone lets see them pull a new excuse out of the air.

That is half the fun of anniv forum section. Organized crime black lotus rings makes for good reading.

Side prediction…this won’t fix anniversary either.

It’s pretty clear that gold swaps between games is one of the preferred ways that bots/hackers will launder their stolen/botted gold, and receiving that from a gold swap landed a lot of players in trouble, even if the player didn’t know that they were swapping with a botter/hacker.

So they just went ahead and removed the excuse.

People who play the game legit are not the bulk of who this affects…

Don’t even try to gaslight. It’s extremely obvious who this is meant for.
