As of 15 hours ago they have updated that you are not allowed to trade gold between clients of wow or servers or even factions. They just declared they are officially to lazy to try to track anything so they are just banning it across the board even for those that play the game legit.
There should be absolutely no issue with me farming gold on a client of wow and then trading that gold for gold on my main version after a friend has quit/decided to invest less time and trade their legit gold. I could still somewhat support just that being banned.
But there has NEVER been a ban in wows entirety for cross server/faction and I was planning to go horde and possibly faerlina if they don’t combine it with benediction and currently have 500k gold so they either need to increase the amount of gold I can transfer with or remove this stupid restriction across realms/factions atleast.
they were banning people for trading gold across games because of false positives, honestly, trading gold across games should never have been legal, especially to tokenless economies
People were being punished for not being psychic and realising that the guy they are trading gold with was a gold seller and taking perm bans for it
Not sure I would call them lazy for it as there is no way to track those trades being done outside of their platform. So they can only see them as being suspicious.
Person A trades gold across platforms to person B, person B is a gold seller and person A has absolutely no way to know that. Person A gets banned doing a legal activity with the wrong person.
Well that’s probably the thing they don’t want you to try to mess up economies by transferring too much gold which is why the gold cap for transfers exist and has existed before in my opinion. There’s certainly certain stuff you can do and in mop you can sell pets across servers for example if I remember.
I dont buy buying a faction transfer, but they need to increase the limits. You can hold like what a million gold now? But you can only transfer 50k across with their limitations.
it really needs to be higher than 50k, in megaserver 1m is barely a drop in the bucket, protecting economies with billions and billions of gold by only allowing 50k is insane, it’s definitely a 2010 limitation and not anything grounded in reality in 2025, most players have more than 50k
The bigger issue is now that legit people can’t trade gold anymore as its against the rules. This is going to increase the amount of people actually buying gold because it probably has less risk same server/faction and all and if they are both illegal why not?
People are going to get their gold regardless and blizzard can try to stop that. If you starve people don’t be surprised when there is theft.
Then they’ll get banned and it will be more easy to get them banned.
Trading gold this way was always a grey area at your own risk, now it’s illegal and they make the rules.
They added the wowtoken at least on cata classic so it’s not like they don’t offer you a way out if you really want gold.
Blizzard doesn’t do anything without there being a profit driving reason behind it. I bet you they will add the wow token to anniversary and sod soon to offset the ability of people being able to trade gold.
Also I see buying tokens the same as gold buying. I’m not spending my hard earned minimum wage on wow gold.
The wowtoken has advantages at least for people that have a lot of gold as they can buy a sub with it which if you don’t know what to do with your gold might not be the worse idea.
You know, this is why i keep my gold to myself. If i need to buy something, I build up the gold and spend it. If you have amassed tons of gold, good for you. …Why?
If someone is giving up WoW they shouldn’t hand over gold to someone. Then that person does the same. The gold never disappears. Prices rise. New people can’t afford auction house prices and… buy gold.
