I know how people feel about politics in the game… and this is neither Pro nor con in that regard…
Take an honest look around you… and I don’t just mean in your immediate vicinity… we are super polarized in this country politically (USA). If it was just one side or the other it might blow over but things are going to get worse before it gets better but I hope I’m wrong.
The days of agreeing to disagree seem to be over for a Time

What would be nice is if Blizz would provide us a with a generic global chat channel so that people wouldn’t use Trade for it.
Until that happens, people are just going to keep using trade.

TBH, i don’t know why Blizzard just doesn’t broadcast fake Blue moderator messages in every trade chat once in a while to fool/bluff players…
For example a fake blue GM message that says “warning. chat about politics in trade chat is not allowed” especially anytime something political is going on in real life… or random things like “I see what you wrote there, do not do it again”, “this is your final warning…”, “stop advertising prohibited services”, etc.
This would instantly trick people abusing trade chat into thinking a GM is actually present and watching chat and immediately would put an end to the political tirades in chat, gold selling advertising, or random trolling for at least a little while. I can imagine especially a random blue message that states “This is your final warning!” would scare everyone straight who are messing around in trade chat as they would not be sure if that message was directed at them or not, when in reality it was just an automated random message.
Even just a simple “hello” or “how is everyone?” would scare people straight.

It was a good ride while it lasted to be fair.
I think why they haven’t is because it’s more work and if they did people would still misuse trade. What we need is a police force moderating chat channels. But that’ll never happen so it is what it is.
