You would join in and it would be politics talk, people blurting out WTS boost advertisements, and lewd jokes.

No thanks.

Someone suggested proximity chat a while back and my thought was, “Oh gee, when I’m in org I would love to have that on and have a level 1 orc following me around trying to get me to buy boosts. That sounds fantastic!” Obviously text doesn’t convey sarcasm well.

My server is pretty quiet, and I imagine that few people would be willing to use the voice chat feature. But the few people that do would probably just chat about their workout plans and memes from 2004.
