Did anyone check whether you could track herbs and ore in the classic demo.
Curious If you can, i know you couldn't back then but i hope you can now.,
In the demo currently yes, you are/were able to track ore, so I assume you could also track herbs. However, in the demo there were many "artifacts" that are left over from the other expansions leading up to the 7.3.5 back end that the classic data files are now running on. For example the LFR window was accessible however Blizzard said during the BlizzCON panel that they had a lot of work to do to remove all of these "artifacts" that are left over from moving the Vanilla code base to the modern engine. That all said, if tracking was not available in the original 1.12 patch, I would assume that it will be removed from Classic as this would be a leftover "artifact" from one of the later expansions as well.
Herbalists were able to track herbs originally. Miners were able to track ore originally.
Don't expect to be able to track both at once.

The tracking was set up a bit differently. It was in your spellbook - Track Ore, Track Herbs, Track Humanoids (hunter), Track Treasure (dwarves). You had to cast the spell and it showed up as a buff.
Because they pushed only certain profession combos, I have no idea if they would have canceled Track Ore to apply Track Herb. (Mail got mine/BS, Leather got Skin/LW, cloth got Herb/Alch.) Maybe someone tried overlapping the hunter buffs or the hunter, dwarf, and gathering buffs to see if the demo allowed it.
EDIT: This is about how it was in the Demo. Not based on or comparing to vanilla.

yes. but tracking back then was their own ability. so you need to add them to your bars.
as a hunter, we needed to add all of our tracking to our hot bars and then use whichever one we wanted/needed.
they later became toggles, that could be picked by a drop down up above the map.
in vanilla, if they are in your skill book- they are considered skills/spells and need to be put on a bar and used accordingly.
just like with hunters, tracking was NOT learned as soon as you got the profession. it was a skill that you had to buy later on, as part of your profession progression. hunters for example, had NO tracking when they started out. it was a skill that you had to buy and train for.
You could track in classic, but it wasn't on your minimap it was a spell in your spell book, also the hunter tracking almost took up a whole action bar, those where the good old days.
