Tracking Somone After Name Change?

So I’ve wanted to change the name of my main for a while… I made the toon as an alt like 8 years ago, I was never meaning to main it, but now it’s my main, so I want to give it a suitable name for me.

But, that being said, what really gave me the idea to spend $25…. Is I want to get away from my guild.

My guild sucks, but they’re iconic. I’m not revealing who they are. They like me, but they’re too heavy on the tough love thing and they’re extremely pushy and they are ruining my game play experience. I want to name change and switch to a different server and find a different guild there.

I know it’s silly, I’m planning on name changing and excommunicating them. But this is wow, I don’t think it’s a big deal if it will literally enhance my gameplay experience. Does anyone know how it’s possible that someone may be able to track me after I change my name? I’m not a b net friend with any of them, so you can take that out of the equation… but I have done raids with them… do you think the name change will show up on some tracker page? Some posts from 3 years ago mentioned they can track you from raider io but I can’t find anything else on this topic… I can see them taking this out, because now in order for me to retain my scores I have to follow a proccess and get my account re-synced, I don’t see how my old name would be attached to it in anyway.

I know I’ll get some comments like “hey man, just tell them your quitting! Communication is key!”

The thing is, is this guild is struggling and needs members badly and they’re trying really hard to bring it back where it once was. And they’re already extremely aggressive and pushy with me, inviting me to stuff as soon as I get on and telling me to get raid gear and stuff…. And I constantly have that vibe like they’re playing it cool and not showing their true colors to make sure I don’t leave. Like telling pugs they’re going kick them for messing up but when I do, it’s a serious meeting in discord and it seems like they’re all holding their tongues and it’s just awkward… I don’t even want to raid tbh, I thought I did at first for 252 pieces but after vault today, I realized more then half my slots are 252 so I don’t even care anymore. and I have no attachment to this guild whatsoever, so I feel it is okay to just dissapear and join a way more active server like Stormrage or something…

TLDR are there any tracking sites that will track a name change, and sites that automatically track you and not ones that you have to sign up for? I’m just trying to disappear from my current scene because I don’t care its a video game, I don’t like pushy aggressive people outside of M+.

If this is true, then just do you and go forward with your plans. Who cares if they can track you. What are they gunna do?

Life’s to short to spend it around people you don’t want to.

I don’t think that there are any websites that allow people to directly track you when you name or server change. However there are things like your Mythic + Score (which RIO now tracks), your achievement points, gear etc that narrow you out.

Like are you saying narrowing out as in, someone seeing my rating, gear, and achievements and putting 2-2 together sort of speak? If so, and if that’s it…. Ez. Im pretty sure there’s a way you can hide achievements and I’ll just go dark on raider io for a week or two and sync then…… hmmm. Im thinkin this will be possible then.

Yeah. exactly like that

I left a guild awhile back and I think I threw them off with just a name change and a new guild, the whispers stopped after that. Eventually I deleted the character for unrelated reasons but I’d think with a server transfer thrown in you’re golden. Wish you all the best, I know how it can be when your guild is making your experience suck. It happens, unfortunately.

None of this needs to happen.

Its a video game just leave the guild.

They can’t whisper you cross server and if someone tries to make alts on a new server just to be angry at you, that’s called petty and harassment. Report and ignore if they manage it. But I doubt they will.

Could always send the GM a mail just before you log out and transfer, tell them sorry but you’re server transferring to be with friends and give them some other server name other than where you’re going.

I’m thinking there’s more to the story here. You’re talking witness protection level disappearing here. Something doesn’t add up.

I seriously doubt that. It sounds more like someone who can’t say “no” versus a lot of people who won’t take “no”. People with more to learn about appropriate social interaction.

That or OP is just seriously over thinking what will happen.

I can whisper my wife cross server if she is the same faction. /tell charactername-servername some message…

I’ve only been able to do that if it’s Connected Realms. :woman_shrugging:t4:

I just did it with my multibox team just now to verify and they aren’t connected realms one normal server and one rp server.

any Btags could see the name change i think and one could mention the name change which could give you away.

No idea. Every time I’ve tried to do that, I get “character unknown” error messages.

I could try sending you a tell right now, if you wanted.

sites like wowlogs etc will often show guild and name changes.
Its also pretty easy for ppl to see either via bnet if they have you added or via your pet lists.

But really, just server and name change if thats what you want and dont stress. Its a game

Yeah, I mean who really has time to track people like that.

Oh I’m not in game. Hehe

Yeah, cool no worries. Maybe try it sometime if you have a friend that isn’t on your connected realm and the same faction though.
