Tracking AH stuff- not TSM

There are 4-5 things I want to keep an eye out for. But I don’t want to be bothered with a planet-sized mod like TSM to do such a simple task. I don’t care about flipping items and the millions of other things that TSM does. I just want to make a small watch-list.

Is there such an addon? Or am I just going to have to wade through TSM?

I’m not sure what you mean by Watchlist, but I don’t use TSM. All of the Auction addons are pretty large because they are trying to make up for the serious shortcomings of the current auction house.

I do the same thing but* I just check manually lol, I’m curious also.

Cuz I know you can check sites that keep somewhat up to date on it so there’s gotta be something small.

Let’s say I want a “Cloak of the Bipzi Awesomeness”, and a “Sword of Tiny’s Hugeness.” Along with 50 other items I want for one reason or another.

You can either type all that stuff out by hand (like @Tiny said he does), or you can create a “watchlist.” You just type it in once, and then when you click on the search field in the AH, you now get a dropdown list and you choose from that list what you want to search.

It’s INVALUABLE if you’re looking for more than a couple items.

And I know TSM and the like have it, I just don’t need the other 95% sheer bulk that comes with those programs. And bulk is an understatement.

Auctioneer can do what you want.

Gotcha, understood.

I know of no addon that meets your slimmed down requirements. You will take your bulk, and like it I’m afraid. There used to be more slimmed down versions, but people overall wanted more and more features so all the addons have been getting pretty bloated because the addon authors started to have trouble breaking everything down into chunks that still had to work together. Better to build it all into one addon than break it all up and still force it all to communicate. I mean sure they could go to the effort of making it all work, but that’s asking a lot for what amounts to hobby projects for these addon authors that make pretty much no money from them.

CAN do … sure. But is it lightweight compared to TSM?

That’s my issue: TSM CAN do it, too. But it’s at the expense having too much other crap I don’t want to deal with.

Auctioneer can certainly do this.

Auctionator to some extent since you can set-up searchable lists of items as well.

People really need to learn to read or ask for clarification… because otherwise you get responses like this.

Auctioneer is certainly not lightweight in terms of its memory footprint and numerous configuration settings. However, it does focus on one function which is buying and selling on the AH unlike TSM which has numerous modules for crafting, inventory, etc. In that sense, you have less to deal with if that’s your primary focus.

If you’re wanting to go with the lightest possible set-up (in terms of impact on game performance and lengthy set-up time) with lists of searchable items you can choose from, I’d go with Auctionator.

Awesome, thank you!

I’d like to think the MANNER in which I do this would help, too.

My plan is that I have an AH-alt. Just use the mod for that alt. On my main/other chrs, I have no need of the mod, so I can just turn it off (since we have per-chr settings for mods).

Another reason I never saw the need for the AH dino. Keep that business on your dedicated AH-alt.

This is still a pretty bloated app. I mean a bit less so than auctioneer, but it is still pretty bloated.

But as was said, if the average app is (sic) 10, TSM is 100, and Auctionator is 40…

Yeah Auctionator is still 4x bigger than the average app, but it’s less than half that of TSM.

Sometimes you have to take the lesser of two weevils.

And overall size shouldn’t affect me anyway because of how I’m setting it up. Actual size of the mod isn’t an issue (I have a bleeding edge rig anyway), I just want EASE of use. I don’t want to wade through a billion options just to create a watchlist.

Glad to help.

Using an AH or bank alt is certainly the way to go. That’s how I handle it as well. You can simply mail off all the items you collect as you play to that one alt stationed at the AH. Makes management of what you want to sell or buy so much easier.

Auctionator also has a nice feature that if you need certain items to craft something, you can click on a small “AH” button in the recipe window (if I remember its location correctly), and it will automatically search and list all those items for you at the AH. It’s a great little AH add-on for what it does.

Auctioneer can typically run 200MB in my game memory with the AH data for multiple servers. Mainly, because it keeps a tremendous amount of historical and statistical data in order to figure out what it thinks is the best price to sell an item.

Auctionator on the other hand, will typically run around 25-30MB for me. The main reason is it only keeps the last 7 days of AH listings (which is something you can configure) and after that, only keeps the single last listing it downloaded. It doesn’t bother with historical or statistical data, only the last price seen. It’s probably the lightest AH add-on you can run.

It also impacts game performance far less than Auctioneer. On the other hand, Auctioneer provides a great deal more automation than Auctionator with its mass listing feature in Appraiser and its automatic disenchanting and milling features.

Lewd :smirk:

Just use auctioneer you goober…

…and stop trying to compare addons by some made up standard that seems right to you.

If you’re decent at coding somewhat, you can try making your own program to pull data from the wow api/ online auction house sites to help you track it yourself. Maybe even one such site exists already?

Doesn’t have to be an addon.

I think you can do it with a paid account in undermine journal

Thanks, Auctionator works great!!!

I really like the way it lets you build simple lists. So now I have “helm xmog” and can list the 20-25 things I’m looking for; and another “shoulders” that has the 20-25 shoulder xmogs I need.

Instead of a 50+ long list of EVERYTHING I need. Good stuff! :^)
