Toxicity of wow community and thinking of going back to FF XIV

It was back in 2015 when I first played. So, things could have changed drastically since then.

i think the community here is great tbh… yeah like many others in the post said theyre always those bad eggs. ive been in a lot of gaming communities and some are pretty toxic… BDO for example is a cesspool with edgy racists and weirdos… after seeing stuff like that and being on here i think its pretty tame…

Compare that to WoW where you frequently see horror stories of someone being kicked out of a low level dungeon because some jackass didn’t want to spend 30s explaining something.

I’ve literally never seen this or had it happen to me and I have 7 120s and 12 other toons from 50-119.

Does it happen? Probably. Doesn’t mean it happens.

The fact other games are also terrible doesn’t mean WoW’s community is any less terrible.

The fact is online in general is terrible. Have you seen a YouTube comment section? Any online video game ever. Wow is far far far from the worst for toxicity. Those who experience toxicity tend to bring it upon themselves with their own toxicity.

Everyone seems to think wow has a terrible community,I have to ask if those people ever tried League or EVE.

Comparing free to play games to subscription ones isn’t really the same. Free to play are always more toxic because people have nothing to lose. They just make a new account and go back to being toxic.

Outside of high-end raiding in which the community is 1:1 with WoW, its the complete opposite.

Not even close. You can pug end game savage and not get harassed or yelled at in any way. There is no “lets see your progression before invite” as well.

Personally, I run meters and know a lot of people that do. Thing is, if I mention it or said something in which one could infer I knew with certainty their DPS was bad, my account would be at risk.

This is why they don’t allow such programs, it prevents people that would normally harass others from not doing so. This is a good thing. Use a parser and keep it to yourself and/or your close friends.

Acting an a-- also can get you suspended/muted. They’re pretty diligent about it.

So by policing their community, which Blizzard largely does not do, it’s a generally more friendly atmosphere unless you’re a top-end raider.

This is all something that Blizzard should take lessons from. Blizzard seems to think they are the best at everything but others are quickly catching up or passing them on quality.
