A little back story, I stop and start playing WoW on and off for several years, I come back every now and then to pvp as I feel WoW has the best PvP out of any mmorpg by far and the best pvp out of almost any game entirely. Recently I’ve come back and hit 2.5k cr in Solo Shuffle on 2 dif chars and I’m currently 2.1k cr in the new Solo Q Blitz, just dabbling and messing around with some homies.
What I’ve noticed is that a lot of the Solo Q players; in some of the lower brackets, around 2k ish, are some of the most toxic if not the most toxic players the WoW community has to offer. Whether that be a rogue cussing out a ret for HoJ’ing a target when he wanted to kidney. Whether that be a dps yelling at healer for “letting them die” and so on and so forth… I notice a lot of the pvpers are just out right petty and weak hearted. The name calling and toxicity tends to go away at higher cr but has anyone else experienced this or am I just living in a bubble here?
I like to think of myself as having thick skin and while I know there is not much that can be done about this… some of this stuff gets fairly annoying to be seeing in the Solo Q’s chat 24/7 and I almost have to meditate to a higher spiritual plane to not defend or engage with these ad hominem on other players.
Trust me… half the team, if not the whole team reports when these players arise. That’s not the issue. But I see you’re the player group I am talking about.
Yes. There have been dozens of studies on this, but when you are able to remain anonymous and when you have an automatic Q system that doesn’t require you to make connections, people are SIGNIFICANTLY more toxic, trolling, and willing to throw.
do what i do and just play with no chat. i got 2500cr literally just tunneling the other healer in every shuffle match lol . also turn of whispers if you dont want to get rage whispered
chat is a tool for player , but players uses it badly , when someone dies in a round then people all like WTF use your bubble , WTF cocoon bro , your so bad lol etc etc… then the guy leave the match because he doesn’t stand the drama. Was the chat usefull ? someone left the game and now we ALL need to wait 15 min.
I actually always found high MMR play fascinating. Some of these people are flat out intolerable if you watch them stream. Nothing is ever their fault, they’ll get mad every game, harass a team mate all night then kick them, refuse to play with them, and a few days, weeks, seasons later they’re back to queuing together.
And I realize the reason for this is because there’s only so many people on the planet you can play with to begin with at that level, but the shocking thing to me is they find it worth it.
They’re not all like that (at least that I’ve seen, I don’t watch a lot of streaming) but like Crusader or some Shaman guy whose name escapes me, just constantly harassing their own team in comms.
I just can’t imagine a circumstance where I’m sitting at my computer where someone is shouting at me through a speaker and be being like “yep, this is fine.” Lol
