Toxic WoW Players & Why Its The Games Fault

“OMG There are too many buttons to press and too many abilities! Fix it bliz!”

Ok, we will prune back some of the useless abilities

"OMG muh buttons are gone! Fix it bliz!

Ok, new set of abilities unique to each expansion.

“OMG Borrowed Power sucks! Fix it bliz!”

Players have no idea what they want.

No, they’re right.

People want to progress their character. So if they are less skilled than you, and don’t enjoy M+ / Heroic - Mythic raiding, they have Korthia to get up to 230 gear. Well at 230 you will be between 12 and 30th on a world boss. And fairly low in LFR, which are the things these players will be doing. LFR will not add to progression because your i-level will be over LFR. Players still want to progress if they are going to do the same thing over and over. So after they beat LFR 3 or 4 times, and can’t get any better gear from what they consider fun, they get bored then annoyed.

Every one wants to get to max gear it’s part of the progression of casual play.

I don’t believe M+ is bad, It can be fun. But gating gear progression behind such things is bad. Most of my high level gear on both my warrior and DK comes from M+. But I don’t honestly enjoy M+ at all, most of the time.

then they can do the content in which the gear drops.

the idea that players should get max level gear while never stepping out of stupidly trivial content is insane.

there is nothing stopping a casual from doing m+ keys or heroic raiding, or pushing pvp ranks. casual does not equal bad.

I would say not enjoying any of it would be a hard stop.

Do you really want the player who doesn’t have interrupt on their bar in your group? Or the feral druid who never shape shifts no matter what, ever. They stand in every thing, and you would never invite them. But you then say, Just do the stuff that I would literally hate to have you do with me. Why not let the people progress away from you so you don’t have to put up with that type of play?

Hey, me too!

If they’re less skilled than me then Mario bros might be the way to go. I’m really not great at this game. (Did get AoTC N’zoth once I outgeared it though!)

I thought the casuals weren’t competitive? Either way, maybe they should worry less about the scorecard and more about having fun. (I do!)

Every level has a rewards ceiling. You go up to the next difficulty or accept that you’ve accomplished your max. I know that mythic is beyond my main and most of my alts aren’t getting out of LFR, and that’s ok.

Max gear is relative to the content you do now that TF is gone.

lack of incentive to be in a guild right now. With dungeon and raid finder (as toxic as they may be sometimes) theres little need for casual players to be in guilds unless they have a bunch of friends that still play. The game has been watered down to where its easy to do a majority of stuff solo.

Acti-bliz does not want them to quit. They enjoy that revenue stream.

Harder content equals less players.

I have come across few toxic players in this game luckily, but most of them were Night Elfs, are they still mad about Teldrassil?

Pretty much this. I dislike retail because of this. I did M+ on S1 to get a mount, was fun but too stressful, and I can understand why many are toxic over it. If someone fails and because of that having a key level drop is really annoying. In worse weeks have gone from 15 to 9 and then up to 15 again. That was very annoying. for TBC Classic it tends to be different in some cases. My realm is lacking tanks and we took undergeared Prot pala for HC SP. I am kinda low geared healer my self but we chose to go with it. It was a bit harder but we did it and we tried to give that new tank some tips and tricks.

sense of community with others is really the glue that ties people to an mmo, you play it cause you have fun playing it with your friends, when the game becomes unfun and all your friends quit playing it, it makes the game a bit hard to continue playing for the average person. Wow has simply hit that point where alot of people are just getting bored with it too quickly because its just more of the same thing over and over. This is why games have a shelf life.

I don’t think it’s that they’re too weak. It’s that they subscribe to a mentality that we see here on the forums which is to say that if you don’t want to play X way then you’re not gonna play at all.

Nothing I said implies otherwise.

If they’re was only hard content, maybe. But wow has a ton of different difficulties for most things.

I love when people say this as if players aren’t leaving and the regularly stated criticism from almost everyone goes against what you’re implying here.

WoW Devs only have an interest and a passion for hard instance content. Everything else they touch is so clearly an afterthought, and done half-assed it’s a joke.

Nobody disputes this. Most people I started with have left. None of them because of this. I know because they’re irl friends.

We have no way of knowing the actual reason for most people leaving without seeing the exit survey results. Complaints on GD or reddit are a minority of users and forums generally skew negative because people like to complain.

Except they’ve kept making it easier to play solo and have great gear, and they’ve kept a variety of difficulties in instanced content.

The Mario quote was a reference to If it’s to hard play Mario. Though I do realize that was not the whole point of your post.

Ah yeah I was just joking about how not good I am.

Most players don’t really want to play with players of vastly different skill levels, unless they are friends. And most content is decided by practice and skill not gear, so why gate the gear. Let people just get all maxed out and then grind away at what ever they like doing. If you lock some thing people want behind a gate, then they will just be annoyed about it till they either quit or find a cheesy way around it. ie boosting / carries / hacks. If they don’t enjoy it they will not “Just practice till they get better.”

But what happens is, they get the gear then either:

*Get salty when they can’t roflstomp the content and demand everything get nerfed instead of playing the level of content that fits their skill or improving.

*Rage because they’re geared and can’t get into groups/get blasted by higher skilled players because they think the gear should be enough to do everything.

Maybe offer a god mode server where people can pick their bis and one shot everything?

I know your being sarcastic, but that actually would probably be fun. I bet a ton of people would play in that server at all times.

Most players, would just get their gear and happily beat the content they can, I say this because that is what most people do now. In the past the easier the game has been the more subs it received. I my self enjoy doing low level M+, but few others want to do low keys and receive no gear. I’ll be like Ok, who wants to do a 4 Halls, and they are like how about a 12 DOS. I can’t justify telling them to waste time getting no gear when they are trying to gear up for raids and higher keys, so I’ll go. But it never fun. I don’t like high keys. I can do them if I must, but they are always a pain in the butt that I’m never enjoying.
